  1. In the Twins last 10 games the bullpen has pitched 32.1 innings and given up 27 runs, something has to change going forward.
  2. Garver needs to be more aggressive with 2 strikes. There were at least 3 times this series where he watched a fastball right down the middle of the strike zone for strike 3.
  3. The Twins are in the midst of an interesting experiment. They seem to be trying to find out how long a successful team can survive while only having one reliever who has any business pitching in high leverage situations.
  4. Three weeks ago you could look at a bunch of good bullpen ERAs and say to yourself, they may not be great but they've been getting the job done. I don't think that can be said anymore and the ERAs are climbing at an alarming rate.
  5. Magill has turned back into a pumpkin. He's unusable in even moderate leverage situations at this point.
  6. The Twins bullpen ERA (6.10) is 26th in baseball over the last 3 weeks. Things are not trending in a good direction for the group and I'm more than a bit concerned about the impact on the team if there aren't upgrades in the very near future.
  7. If the Twins bullpen was a boat, I'd say it was taking on water at an alarming rate and is in danger of going under.
  8. The number of Twins relievers I have any confidence in to pitch in the late innings of close games is down to 1 (Rogers).
  9. Including tonight's game, the Twins bullpen ERA is right around 7 for the past 2 weeks. It's going to be tough to keep winning when the bullpen is struggling so badly. Maybe it would be a good idea for the front office to finally make a move and get an upgrade or two.
  10. Twins front office unable to land a needed bullpen upgrade, the story of the off-season (and now the regular season).
  11. I'm not sure why there are repeated questions about him at the moment. He's had what sounded like a really promising off-season (other than the freak injury) and has been performing well since returning to the Twins. I'd think it would make a lot of sense to wait to see how he does with a few hundred at bats (if he's still performing at the current level at that point there won't be any questions).
  12. Bumgarner is nowhere close to the same ace level pitcher he was from 2011-16. He is also a free agent at the end of the year. Somebody is going to overpay for the name, I hope it isn't the Twins.
  13. Smeltzer needs to throw strikes to everyone but Lindor.
  14. The Twins have Castro, Schoop, Odorizzi, Pineda, and Gibson coming off the books for a total of $41.125M. There is also $16.46M in dead money that is owed to Reed, Hughes, Morrison, and Santana this season. Add in the approximately $10M the team cut payroll and at the moment they have around $68M to work with next off-season and that assumes they don't raise the payroll beyond what they did in 2018. I think the Twins can afford Kimbrel while still having plenty left to re-sign Odorizzi and/or Gibson.
  15. The first round is going incredibly slow. I left for a while after the Twins pick and decided to check back in at the 3 hour 20 minute mark thinking the Twins #39 pick should be coming up (or already done), but they are still in the regular first round.
  16. Cavaco is the kind of pick that will make the front office look really good or really bad in a few years.
  17. I'll be curious if the Twins try to go overslot at #39.
  18. Twins break with the experts, wonder what they saw in Cavaco that others didn't.
  19. Stott has pretty similar ratings to what Swanson and Bregman had when they were drafted.
  20. Stott still available, seems like the best rated guy left on the board.
  21. MLB coverage is extremely annoying, they show that the next pick is in and then start a new interview before announcing the pick.
  22. I'd take Kimbrel first since he wouldn't cost any prospects and the Twins have plenty of financial flexibility to sign him.
  23. Unless someone unexpectedly slips in the draft, my guess for the Twins pick at #13 is Stott with the secondary option being Langeliers. If those 2 are off the board I suspect a guy like Manoah will be available.
  24. This game should be a convincing argument for the front office that the bullpen needs to be improved sooner rather than later.
  25. On days when Rogers shouldn't be used the Twins bullpen looks very questionable.
