  1. I don't expect Keuchel to be a starter, but he could be an effective left hand reliever similar to Jim Kaat.
  2. I made a mistake on Gallo's strike out rate for May and June, its "only" 46.4%
  3. I think Buxton and Gallo need to the 8 & 9 batters, in May and June they have struck out 47.7% and 59.8% of their ABs, respectively. If they get on they have good speed for the top of the order. I don't believe that Buxton is anywhere near 90% and it showed in the Detroit series 13 AB, 0 H and 8 SO. I wish they would have sent him on a rehab assignment to help him get his confidence back.
  4. In yesterday's game was there any explanation as why Solano didn't score on Lewis' ground ball single? On the video it look like it took almost 6 seconds for the cf to pick the ball up. Correa may have been able to advance to third on that play.
  5. "The Twins continue their ten-game homestand on Thursday (6/15) as they begin a four-game set against the Detroit Tigers, whom they’ll face for the first time this season. Joe Ryan (7-3, 2.90 ERA) is set to make the start for Minnesota in game one," Are they giving Gray an additional day off? The rotation has been Gray/Ryan/Varland?/Lopez/Ober.
  6. I agree with DocBauer with a little different order on the top 3. Jax is my biggest disappointment to date. He has been charged with runs in 9 of his 26 appearances. 6 of which he took the loss and the other 3 the Twins lost by one run. He has had a hand in 9 of 27 of the Twins losses. J Lopez and Miranda are tied for a distant 2nd because of gap between expectations and results.
  7. Riverbrian, I cut the cord this year as the cable was getting outrageous. I am saving a $100/mo. by being on YouTube TV, with the cost of losing Bally Sports North. I checked into buying MLB plan, but found out that Iowa is blacked out for Twins, Royals, Cardinals, Cubs, White Sox and Brewers. I am hoping that the Twins will soon be free of BSN and I will be able to stream the Twins.
  8. With Ryan pitching, the outfield is going to be busy. Gallo, Taylor and Kepler is the best defensive outfield we can currently field,
  9. Houston was careful with Kirilloff and walked him 3 times. After yesterday I expect them to be careful with both Kirilloff and Lewis, and make Kepler beat them. I would prefer having Gallo after Lewis, same average as Kepler with more of a homerun threat. Edit: I would move everyone up a slot, drop Gallo to 6. Taylor and Kepler could flip to separate the LH bats.
  10. Kepler will not be DFAd. The way he hits in Cleveland, I believe he has 16 homers in 50 games at Progressive Field. I suspect he will eventually end up there, either by trade (direct or indirect) or FA.
  11. "Wouldn't that negate the effectiveness of it though? Batters would just let it go. They'd at least have to time it out if it was a strike." Look at the Sabol AB. The curveball ended up below the zone and had to be blocked for a strikeout. The batters are expecting the fastball and if the curveball is in the zone, they can pull it.
  12. Duran should never throw a curveball for a strike. I wonder the batting average is against his fastball vs curveball?
  13. Wonder what this umpire's scorecard will be? Pagan was bad, but he only threw 2 balls Heyward according to Gameday. Cuzzi's total run impact was 1.81 runs for the Dodgers and Livensparger's was 1.75 for the Dodgers.
  14. I thought DeLeon did OK, even leaving with 2 on and 2 out. Why Rocco thought Pagan was better in this situation than DeLeon is beyond me.
  15. "have any of the trades helped the twins" Ryan for Cruz has definitely helped the Twins.
  16. LastOnePicked 1,852 Verified Member Posted 40 minutes ago "Wasn't Sonny Gray getting these exact calls in his start against the Cubs? I didn't see any complaining from the Twins faithful then. You gotta rise above and win games. The rest is noise. The last thing I want from - or for - this team is to get caught up in the victim mentality. Toughen up. Score runs, Hold leads. Win games. Period." I looked up the umpire scorecard for the first Cubs game. He was consistently bad, but overall favored the Cubs.
  17. I would have Buxton batting 2nd or leading off. Bryon has not been productive with RISP, batting average of .145 and .239 for 2022 and 2021 respectively. The last 2 years Bryon has hit his best with just a runner on first (BA .273 and .512), an argument for having him bat 2nd. Bryon's average with no one on is .229 and .270. However, having him lead off allows him to turn walks and singles into doubles (if his knee is healed). IMHO Byron belongs at the top of the order (1st or 2nd) until his RISP average improves.
