  1. From the article "Minnesota now has a couple of days to decide whether or not to add Keuchel to the active roster, or else release the veteran southpaw." If the article is correct the Twins may be able to add him today.
  2. I thought the Twins had couple days to call up Keuchel
  3. EJ moves to DH, Polanco to 2nd & Farmer in at 3rd
  4. Logic would have also told you that the Twins would have won 1, 2 or 3 games in the KC series.
  5. I look at putting Keuchel on the active roster as an extremely low risk/high reward situation. As Dman stated he could revert into a pumpkin and is DFAd after 1 or 2 starts. Many posters believe that will be the case and I respect their opinions. Since they can make room on the 40 man roster by putting people on the 60 day IL, the Twins wouldn't be losing anyone. Keuchel has made some mechanical changes in his delivery that have improved his velocity from his 2022 disaster. This is the high reward part of the equation. If he can become close to the 2020 Keuchel 6-2 with 1.99 ERA he would be an asset to the Twins (or any other team that signs him). I look at Keuchel as being similar to Don Baylor in 1987. Baylor (38 years old) was hitting .239 for Boston when the Twins acquired him on August 31st. In limited duty he hit .286 (.703 OPS) during the remainder of the regular season .400 (.900 OPS) against Detroit and .385 (1.082 OPS) against St. Louis. I am hoping that I remember Keuchel in the same way I remember Baylor.
  6. I think he started out with an innings or pitch limit. He worked up to 6 innings. Could he work longer, I don't know?
  7. I reacted before reading the article as it sounds like the Twins have a couple of days to add him. I hope they do add him. How many AAA pitchers have an ERA 1.13?
  8. I think this is worse than not making any trades. You could have DFAd Gallo to make room on the 40 man. His veteran presence would have been helpful to the younger pitchers. The starters are showing signs of fatigue. The FO will look like idoits if a starter goes down and Keuchel is effective for some other team. I don't know what his MLB contract would have been, but this late in the season it would have been a good addition. Much like the '87 Twins getting Don Baylor.
  9. At 70 bu per acre there would about 840 million individual soybeans in 80 acre.
  10. Duran gets the save, but his ERA in August is 9
  11. If the Twins win the division, wouldn't they face the 6 seed (i.e. last wild card team). The last wild card team can either be on a roll to make the playoff or just managed to hang on to the last slot.
  12. I think a playoff team is any team that qualifies, either by winning their division or a wild card spot. I'm old enough to remember the '87 Twins who I am sure were long odds to win the World Series over Detroit and St. Louis. But they did. It only takes a team getting hot at the right time. I concur that Gray won't be here next year, but I'm not sure the Twins would get back more the what they would get if the made a QO. It wouldn't surprise me if Maeda came back next year, or if he keeps pitching like he has since coming off the IL he could receive a QO. Cleveland just traded a starter, but they seem to be much better than the Twins at drafting and developing good starters. I don't think the Twins have that luxury. I would like to see them call Keuchel up to allow SP to skip a start rather the a 6 man rotation. Getting back to the playoffs, if Lewis, Krilloff and Buxton can be heathy I believe a line up of Correa SS, Polanco 2B, Jullien DH, Krilloff 1B, Lewis 3B, Kepler RF, Buxton CF, Wallner or RH trade LF, Jeffer C would match up well against any other playoff team. Maeda, Gray, Lopez, and the hot hand of Ryan, Ober or Keuchel as starters. Duran, Jax, Thilbar, LH trade, Stewart, and Pagan as relivers.
  13. Gallo is bad, but I don't think he has recovered from the pink eye. Last 10 AB 8 SO
  14. I wish they would give Buxton at least 10 days off.
  15. What is a good BABIP? For the season Duran is at .286, Jax .272 and Pagan .246.
  16. On 6/27 I posted that I didn't think Pagan could step to fill the void of Stewart going on IL. He has appeared in 12 games since (7 against Balt & Sea: 5 against KC, OAK and CWS). He is 2-0 (one win coming in Seattle on the scorer's opinion) 2 holds and 1 BS. If he hadn't got the scorer's awarded win he would have gotten another hold. So in games on the line he has an 80% success rate. He has allowed 2 of 6 inherited runners to score (67% strand rate) this includes coming into a bases loaded situation in Baltimore after a Duran blowup and getting the last out to give the Twins a chance to win down one. They didn't. His ERA over 11 innings is 1.64. For the season he has allowed 8 of 22 inherited runners and strand rate of 64% while Jax for the season has allowed 4 of 6 inherited runners to score (33% strand rate). Do I feel confident when Pagan comes in? Absolutely not! But I believe that he has shown to be an above average reliever and has responded well to the increased responsibility. I am willing to admit that I was wrong about Pagan having the ability to step it up. Like it or not the Twins need Pagan to continue his recent performance. JMHO
  17. I believe that the Lopez family and both teams will be winners in this trade. I believe that Floro will perform as well or better than Lopez would have performed as a Twin. I also believe that Lopez will perform better for the Marlins than he would have for Twins since he will be closer to his family. A lot of comments regarding the Mahle trade failure, which necessitated the Arraez/ Lopez trade. If the Arraez trade hadn't been made, where is Julien today? I doubt that he would be on the Twins roster. Maybe the league will figure out Julien, but to date he shown the willingness to hit the pitch where its at (i.e. an outside pitch hit to left field) the same as Arraez. Only with a lot more power. Sometimes trades work out just not in the way you expected. My dream end of the year lineup would be: Correa SS, EJ DH, Polanco 2B, AK 1B, Lewis 3B, Kep RF, Buxton CF, Wallner LF, Jeffers C. I am happy for all X Twins to do well (just not against the Twins). So who do you remove to make room for Arraez, Steer and CES?
  18. They took Gallo out. Is he injured or hopefully being traded?
  19. What are they going to do with Keuchel? 1) Bring him as a starter to allow starts to be skipped by top 5 as needed or as 6th starter? 2) Bring him as a LH reliever? 3) Let him walk? In 5 starts with the Saints he has an ERA of .69 over 26 innings.
