So rumor has it he's heading to MN. What do you guys think, and is he the franchise QB we need? He's 25, so someone who could be around for a while.

 

that said, I think our Defense is in pretty rough shape. Not sure how much a franchise QB will mean this season.

I like more of what I've seen from him than Ponder. But I'd prefer they move on with their pick next year.

With the way the defense has played, the year is probably lost anyway. But maybe they can contend for the 6th spot if Freeman clicks with the receivers quickly. At least this sends the message that Ponder's leash is a short one.

Color me intrigued. Freeman did have a real nice year, two "ok years" and a couple bad years.

 

If he can somehow manage to be even league average, this offense ends up clicking. Plus he is only 25, which is about 12 years younger then most retreads they bring in.

Josh Freeman is legit and I'm pretty amped that we got him.

Don't let the last 10 or so games fool you, it's not entirely his fault. Greg Schiano (sp?) is a complete clown, and that team runs almost an exclusively vertical passing game, so of course his comp% is going to be low.

We just found our franchise QB for the next 7 or 8 years.

I like this move because Rick Spielman is untying himself from Ponder. He's at least giving Leslie Frazier a shot to keep his job.

Freeman by NO means is a franchise QB. The first 3 weeks he was worse than Ponder. However, if he can turn around (which I doubt because Musgrave is an idiot) then he'll be better than Ponder.

The wild card is Matt Cassel. If he has a good performance against the Panthers, how can you not start him against the Giants and (potentially) go 3-3? If Cassel falters, then play Freeman.
