I am happy for Ramirez. He is younger than Mastroianni (and 4 years younger than Clete). Even though not a prospect (he is 27) he is entering his prime and can play all 3 OF positions. Plus he is a RHB with some pop (not many of those around in the Twins' OF - Willingham is a DH.) I think that he might stick around for a while...

Ramirez and Mastroianni were born the same year (2 months apart) and Clete is less than two years older, not four. That said, I think that Mastroianni will be optioned when his rehab time is over. He hasn't played in a couple of days and the Red Wings are off tomorrow, IIRC. Doumit is due to come off the concussion list soon (Friday?) and that will require another move. Ideally, a pitcher should be demoted, traded or designated, but there aren't any obvious candidates for demotion unless Kyle Gibson is shut down. So, if a position player is demoted, Ramirez might be the leading candidate, even though his demotion would expose him to being claimed, since he has no options remaining.

Mastro is the clear choice to be on the team in 2014 out of those 3 in my opinion. He's the superior CF'er, the better hitter and by far the best base-runner. If they risk losing him for the sake of Thomas or Ramirez, I'll be pissed.

Excellent point. Is tomorrow's game, vs. Cleveland, Kyle's last appearance of the year?... He stands to go over 140 combined IP.

In a recent interview on Twins website Gibson said that, while they hadn't given him a specific number or said anything about this, he expects to be limited to 150-160 innings this year.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Just because Andrew Albers can pitch a complete game doesn't mean we should expect six innings from the rest of the staff. A solid five innings Wednesday would still allow him to get two outs his following start if we were deciding 140 was his magic number.

I'm guessing that Gibson won't be shut down until 9/1, that would give him 4 more starts. With the way he has pitched that would give him 20-25IP which would put him at 160 combined.

I'm assuming you picked that date because of September callups? Rochester might not be done then - they are in a playoff spot right now.

Scott Diamond isn't in the Red Wing playoff plans, is he? One more good performance and I can see him taking Gibson's spot......unless they plan on rolling out Blackie for a farewell tour...
