I meant the LHP hitting version of Nelly…

Certainly.

My point was that the bigger picture of how a player fits in has to be considered.  When a batter is weak against one arm of a pitcher, it gives the opposing manager more options to unravel the strategy you planned.  We've seen that play out from the other side of the plate, with Larnach and Wallner (when the latter was still viable).  Strategies like early pitch-hitting were felt to be cures worse than the disease - no-win.

Which is just another way of expressing how great Cruz was for us.  Gotta give FalVine credit for snagging him (and then trading him most advantageously).

One? Why stop there?

Us old people really know what we are doing.

We can't lift 50 pounds repeatedly anymore but we know what we are doing.

There is a roster of us available for only 199.99 million.

Although clever people can find some deals on us listed on facebook marketplace.

I mean, could you at least try to write an article that I'd actually read? This cannot be serious.

How do you know the article does not meet your standards if you didn't "actually" read it?  My problem with the article (which I actually did read) is that I think I read the same one during the 2025 offseason.

Which illustrates why you can’t extrapolate out small sample size numbers without regression to career stats. It’s a stupid way to predict future performance.

Any team that signs Ryan Jeffers is doing just that.

Unless the headline was sarcasm, I know all I need to know about signing Goldschmidt.

WHAT WAS KODY CLEMENS BATTING AVG WHEN HE PLAYED FIRST BASE

During his breakout 2026 MLB season with the Minnesota Twins, Kody Clemens hit .245 while playing first base.
While his overall season average across all defensive configurations was .239, his offensive contributions while manning first base kept the lineup stable during key injury stretches. In his 128 plate appearances specifically at the position, he provided a steady blend of selective barrel control and extra-base power:
• Plate Appearances: 128
• Slash Line: .245 / .345 / .441
• Extra-Base Hits: 14

Who had better combined first base  fielding and hitting stats than Kody Clemens extrapolated over a 162 game season

When Kody Clemens' performance at first base during the 2026 MLB season is mathematically extrapolated over a full 162-game schedule (scaled to roughly 1,458 defensive innings and 650 plate appearances), his statistical profile transforms into a massive hypothetical monster:
• Extrapolated 162-Game Hitting: .245 AVG, 54 Home Runs, and 124 RBIs (based on his 11 HR and 25 RBIs in 128 plate appearances at 1B).
• Extrapolated 162-Game Fielding: 20 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) (extrapolated from 5 DRS in 366 innings).
Because an extrapolated line of 54 HRs and 20 DRS represents a historic, MVP-caliber campaign, no real-world MLB player in 2026 actually beat those combined, pace-adjusted figures.

I'm a Kody Clemens fan. He's knocked 46 dingers with us and that is nothing to sneeze at.

Yet... I'm not sure you can just use his 1B performance and extrapolate that to 162 games.

Regardless if you can or can't do that. I'm not going to knock Kody Clemens one bit, I got him penciled in to play 2B and believe he can flow to unexpected holes across the diamond as they occur.

He's worth every penny. Any 26 man roster should have room for this type of player.

I'd still be bringing in a 1B who can crush the baseball. That isn't Goldschmidt in my eyes.
