On an 0-2 pitch, I think - that might tilt the odds just a little more in favor if the runner thinks he's got the timing right.

Wrong catcher to gamble on, though.

My late father is rolling over in his grave. I can remember him lecturing me as a tyke about the risk reward of trying to steal third with two outs. Learned a lot of ball from him and his father.

Also, welcome aboard you 2 to this lively thread Wow what a bang bang play to throw out Hamilton at 3B!

Man, the execution on the throw / relay. Really fun to watch.

Not a good turn at second base, which did him in.  On the replay, I find myself wondering if the second-base bag moved a bit more than is standard - maybe nothing wrong with the runner's turn, and the half-a-nanosecond stumble cost him.

Tampa Bay converting two former Twins relievers into World Series starters, and then a third former Twin guy is the RHP set up guy.

To be honest though, Wells and Martinez would have parted ways by now anyway, only Jax is really a ‘diss’/mistake

You know what I love? One of the best pitchers in baseball removed after 5 innings when he's cruising at 78 pitches.

I agree, I don’t love it either. But the way teams use their top starters as relievers now, probably justifies it.

Miz will probably come out of the bullpen at some point if the series goes long.

The picture quality is crazy on that app compared to my Xfinity feed. They have the technology there... Why is this not available via antenna or cable subscription?

I love Uribe. Guy is filthy.

A little less tall and not quite as skinny as Misiorowski, but similar looking in profile.

We can only hope... If not, a dumb decision to burn 4 innings out of your bullpen for no reason.

Wow so they are running on contreras like he’s Mickey Gaspar I guess. Throw beat that guy by a mile, he’s gonna be out whenever he gets to second base.

It looked like it was a designed play that the batter couldn't execute.

Still, it's looking like a FAFO game regarding the Brews' catcher.

Really keen observation, was it the bigger base? He probably assumed he might as well go for it anyway since the ball was hit in the corner?

Wasn’t he a spring training guy or a offseason and DFA ? Ugh my apologies if not

It certainly could be.  The guy spent a long time overseas, and the Twins could have had an association with him so brief that it doesn't even show up in his online history.

Or it didn't happen at all.

I'm just throwing out there that on an 0-2 pitch, the calculation changes a little.  If the next pitch is a strike, the inning is over anyway.  If it's a ball, it might be harder for the catcher to handle.  If the ball is put in play, even a squib hit might score the run, while if the batter is retired there is no cost to the runner.  And finally, if it's a caught-stealing, the two strikes are erased and the batter leads off the next inning with a fresh count.  And finally finally, the runner could slide in safely.

All small things, but makes the play seem a little less boneheaded.

lets see what the Rays do   also , all greedy bastards

Standing room only for the Rays home game this WS is $2,600 on Gametime (use promo code Gleeman) when they weren't more than half full all regular season. Yeah, they're all greedy bastards.

As they say at the political rallies, do your own research and decide what's best for you.

A political minded anti-vaxx guy shows up in an emergency room.

Doctor: “I’d love to help you, but I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. Do your own research.”

Your observations are astute (hey nobody calls me a stute). I’m thinking your understanding of the situation exceeds the runners 😀. I’ll take a guy standing on second with the batter getting another swing.
