Cardenas has some decent defensive chops but the bat is worse than Vazquez last year.

Jackson is not even a starting caliber catcher, if someone goes down you either tell Cardenas come up and catch the ball every three days and not worry about his offense.  Or you go out on the waiver one and grab another journeyman, it isn't that difficult.

The constant concerns on Jackson are effectively farts in the wind.  Some slight discomfort for those around but changes nothing that is occurring on the ball field or is called up or down.

He has been a capable back up in 2 separate years.   Again your concerns are

You have 5 catchers injured and multiple underperforming ones including the Yankees.  They would grab any slightly alive catcher.  Heck they signed our former friend to a AAA contract.

It actually is affecting the moves that are available at the end of the game, there have been a couple of games in the last week where we potentially could have a pinch hitting option if Jackson wasn't on the roster.

Emergency catcher is Clemens, I think that it was mentioned last year. I cannot figure out why Jackson has not been given a chance to pitch hit. His stats have been good as I mentioned earlier.

Agreed, and I don't think he's been an absolute pit at first. He made some pretty solid plays there.

Who?   Who are you willing to have up as a 13 man - get minimal opportunities.   We don't have a bunch of veteran options down in AAA we can call up for spot duty.  Anyone we call up will need significant at bats and opportunity to continue their development.  Hence why Roden, Martin are the most likely individuals to be option and who have options available.
