Saxophone Joe Verified Member Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM The Astros were probably due for a game like that against us. Almost came back to beat us after the rain delay game last month. Tough way to lose 6-4 though.

All of your muscle memory is going the wrong way. Plus, you have the added tasks of positioning yourself to hold runners. There is a lot more footwork than meets the eye to play first and he is learning it all on the fly. The Ball was hit Directly at him, ZERO foot work involved. His throwing from Third Base was a greater failure than getting his glove on the ball, but now it seems getting his glove on the ball is a serious problem.

Yeah, it's good to move to player to a better spot when possible, but evidently their initial plan was poorly conceived. At the very least it should have been obvious that Lee couldn't handle SS and inexplicably Gray was his backup. They did flirt with playing Keaschall in LF, I get sticking with him to see if he got better at 2B. Too bad he didn't.

Neither did all the doomers when we signed France and Santana. I'm not sure if he will ever win one. He is not butchering the position. I still think he is better than the alternative, which would be Bell. He made a misplay that setup the rest of the inning. I'm still going to stand on the position that it takes more than 3 weeks to be proficient at a position. HarmonK03 1

You may be correct, but after a Long, Long time at third he was never more than a poor Third Baseman. Catching a ball hit directly at you, should not be a problem for a professional ball player. There is nothing that says Culpepper is ready for the Big League pitching except in some TD starry eyes, only that he is very good at AAA. If the Twins tank, he will probably get time up in Sept. maybe.

I know he struggled but he has barely one years worth of games at the position and there was no clear replacement. Clemens should be in a utility role so why move Keaschall now. I think they needed to show more patience.

Shouldn't they be getting developed to be ready to play and hopefully produce in the major leagues. We don't have a starting shortstop so why you couldn't call him up. If I am going to see a player struggle I would rather it be a young prospect with potential then a AAAA vet that has shown he is not a full time player and is not going to contribute to a winning team. The right time is when the Twins gents in charge think it is the right time. No one here Knows anything about who will stay at Short Stop; Kreidler has a very good glove . That is some thing the Twins need badly there. The record of the gents coming up from AAA that so many here pee and moan should happen, is very poor. Some of the poster do not seem to give a darn about the Twins; no matter what the Twins do it is the wrong thing to them. If they did they would not babble - bring the youths up. They only want to to see their boys up from AAA. If the rookie fails , hurting the Twins, they trash them and start belly aching that some one else should come up. It would be stupid to bring another one up and watch him fail, while the Twins still have a chance at the Post Season. Next season's Spring Training will expose what is what.

A lot of people myself included are looking for some kind of direction from this team. And no they don't have to share all the details with the fans. But they have been constantly churning thru one year vets with no proven track record or on the decline for the last 6 years and all it has gotten is one shortened playoff series win. At some point maybe try something different. This team has a chance at a playoff on paper only and most objective observers know that. Organizations bring up their top prospects all the time and when you have two guys almost 29 and 30 years with a combined 300 plus AB's between them in front of that prospect that just makes no sense for now or long term. If they are not going to sign proven major league players that have started and produced to fill the roster, then the other option is to play the prospects you are supposed to be developing. That is why you have a minor league system. And as a fan I have a right to call for improving the team and do a better job of filling out the roster. Just because Zoll is the man in charge doesn't mean I just have to blindly follow what he does and not ask for better results. Results are what matters at the end of the day and this team has not produced good results or put a good product on the field for most of this decade. And I thought the point of this board was to be able to discuss our thoughts and views of the Twins but you seem to have designated the thought police to tell us what we can and can't say.
