5 prospects going back to Washington, including Texas's 2nd ranked prospect Gavin Fien.

Sharing here mostly as we've now seen Freddy Peralta go to the Mets as well as Gore going to the Rangers in about a 24 hour span. Useful for when/if the Twins do listen on the likes of Joe Ryan (as an example) if we want to compare value in these deals.

Where the Brewers really seemed to do well on the trade value they got - if I was a Washington fan the currentl deal is beyond meh.  I take our return from the Varland, Jax and Duran trades over what Washington is getting for Gore.

I will echo your comments and say the return is underwhelming.  I know Gore struggled the second half of the year, but I would have thought the return would have been better.  I guess the Nationals chose quantity over quality.  Texas only has 1 high end prospect (Walcott) though and I am guessing he was a non-starter.

The deal for Gore is a bad one for the Nationals. Texas has one good prospect and they didn’t get him.

The return for Peralta and Myers is similar to the return the Twins received for Berrios with the exception that they didn’t need to give up another good arm but did give up a two months of Berrios. Myers has a 3.15 ERA in 188 major league innings with 5 years of control left. I don’t think the Brewers got near enough for 1 year of Peralta and 5 years of Myers. I wonder if the Giants had offered them Eldridge. That seems like a better offer. Maybe they had contend about the wrist.

Teams don’t trade top flight talent any longer.

Five prospects mostly in the low minors with higher upsides for 2 years of a pitcher that never met his upside for a full season.   Way too early to declare winners and losers in this trade.

Pretty much only San Diego has traded top end talent. Arizona learned with Swanson. Now if a team recognizes the hole in a player’s game, they should be traded quickly.  The return the White Sox got for their stars is the best example.

For one year of their former stars service the Brewers will likely get 4-5 war total out of the each of the tandems they recieved
