Didn’t watch a second of the game, but from what I’m gathering online McCarthy played poorly.

Run game looked good.

Murray wasn't exactly impressive in his three throws either.

KOC will put him on ice until week 1 now except the joint practices. I don’t agree with that when the guy needs as many reps as possible… But that’s life in the current NFL.

Jamal Adams gets carted off the field with a non contact leg injury. That’ll probably do it for him.

Likely out for the year. Brosmer also hurt?

Agreed. I don't get how not playing is a good idea.

He came out and didn't return with what was reported as a wrist injury, didn't see the play and hard to know the severity. If it's anything more than a 1/2 week injury, I wouldn't be shocked if they IR him and stash him there for the rest of the season, that happens with borderline guys like him.

Watched it at some place called Willie McCoy's.  Not even touched and down and done.

If you refuse to play Murray, make McCarthy play every snap. Dude isn't going to learn any other way. Brosmer is a non factor, and Wentz is ready.

Might as well. The situation is pretty toxic with the fan base. I don’t want to hate the guy, I really don’t. But he is a bust. It’s time for him to hit the backup QB circuit like Zach Wilson.

Someone is arguing with me that Murray and Wentz already get hurt, so they should keep him. To which I reply, why? They aren't winning anything meaningful with McCarthy. That seems clear at this point, alas.

The viral video of the day is McCarthy missing an easy TD pass at the goal line to Myles Price. He once again threw it too hard and sailed a wide open pass. He also missed a couple of easy, over the middle 5-6 yard completions.

Ya. That was awful.

Do not draft a QB who's offense was not built around him. Simple.

The Vikings offense looks very concerning

If the offense is down to entirely backups, yeah it's concerning. The OL of Henry Byrd, Joe Huber, Michael Jurgens, Vershon Lee, and Van Demark (the only passable one in this group) is going to tank if they ever have to all play at once. Barring a calamity they won't.

It's frustrating with McCarthy... he makes a few good throws, then can't make the routine ones. But he's gotten worse the longer he's been a Viking, is nobody working on his wonky throwing motion? Once upon a time QB coach Josh McCown was supposed to be a QB guru, but now his last two QBs Bryce Young and JJM have been unplayable under his tutelage.

It actually costs more cap (about $1M more) to release JJM than it does to keep him, so he probably hangs around as QB3. Brosmer is still worse, actually he's also gotten worse the longer he's played here. He was pretty darn good last preseason, he was much worse today.

In regards to this, it all depends if JJM is going to be a professional and accept his fate as QB 3. If he’s going to cause drama, or they think having both Murray and JJM could split a locker room, then let’s just get rid of him.

Idk the answer to that since I’m not in the building every day. But it got off to a cringey start with JJM’s classroom quotes.

Given what we've seen, I want a new QB coach. I'm also not convinced the HC is good for younger QBs. But I think he's a good HC overall. Not great.... But good

I have a feeling this ten win team will be stuck in no man's land for a QB again next off-season.

Yup, it's gonna be extend Kyler Murray or sign Mac Jones. It's a deep QB class and maybe Teasley will want to take a shot, but if it's up to KOC he is going with one of those two veteran QBs every day of the week.

Gonna be a loooong time before the Vikings overreach and draft a later round draft pick in the top 10-15. Ponder and McCarthy are the poster children for not reaching for a QB. And to think, McCarthy was picked to start week 1 last year on the road. As miraculous a win as I’ve seen. I think KOC would like to cut ties and move on. They see these guys every day. And I think they believe, as the kids say, “he ain’t it”

QBs getting worse the longer they are exposed to Viking coaching is a problem.

O'Connell has a real shot at getting fired mid-season.

8-9 wins tops.  More likely 6.

Murray's average season is better than anything they've had in Minnesota since cousins. And this defense is real. I'll take 8 wins easy. Easy.

Nah, O'Connell won a power struggle this offseason and will get a longer leash. 2027 is the earliest I see him on the hot seat. They didn't hire Teasley to immediately have him start a HC search only a few months later.

I don't believe that's the case. Kirk Cousins was much better under KOC. He finally got Kirko to take shots downfield and not be scared of making mistakes. Darnold looked good here, and he maximized Mullens to his very best self... granted his best self wasn't that great.

The issue is we've had to start several QBs who are backup quality at best, and out of the league at their worst like Jarren Hall, the Passtronaut, JJM, and Brosmer.

I wouldn't mind doing both. Guys like Muray, Jones, or Baker aren't signing 5-6 year mega deals anymore. We could sign one of those veteran QBs to a 3 year deal, draft a QB and put the prospect on the Jordan Love development plan sitting for 2-3 years.
