I expected a wide open Bear, but nope. I thought Williams was going to scramble to the sideline for a first down. Great game by the Bears and their running game especially. I think I under-estimated Ben Johnson. Caleb Williams has not been good, yet that team is winning, and even more surprising in this era of extreme QB examination, no one is talking about how Caleb Williams has not been good. That's been a pretty slick trick. Mike Sixel 1

If there isn't either near consensus conviction or accepted resignation, we as Viking fans are once again looking at an unclear path forward. A third year of playing 'Is he or Isn't he?' is the worst case scenario. I want JJ McDonut (no middle). Be very clearly the option to start Week 1 of 2026 (albeit with a very experienced and not injury-prone backup), or very clearly cut-bait and get what you can in a trade.

But for me at this point, I don't know that McCarthy can do enough the rest of the season to be very clearly the option for week 1. I think that ship has nearly sailed. I know last game was a win, but it was not good enough for me to change my tune. I know he didn't need to do more to win the game, but he needed to do a lot more to have me buy into his abilities. I also don't care about the veteran backup. Because a good veteran backup basically just means the difference between being bad, and being respectable. It still has no impact on if your team is great, and that's the only thing I care about. Mike Sixel 1

Complete agreement. If JJM never started another game for the Vikings, I would not be upset. I don't think it's realistic to totally give up on him yet, but the path to him being a difference-making QB for the Vikings is so narrow right now, I'm already in mini-rebuild mode. Just wish the Wilfs would feel the same. nicksaviking 1

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 I just saw this on ESPN's bottom line and had to google this... They are working out Philip Rivers to see if he can join the team for the last 5 games of the season. He is 44 years old. At least the Vikings aren't that desperate. gunnarthor 1

Indy now is in the worst spot in the NFL... Danny Dimes was on a 1 year deal and now gone for all of 2026 - they almost certainly would have kept him. They traded their 1st round picks the next 2 years for Sauce Gardner who is also out with a calf injury. I guess they have to try Anthony Richardson again next year?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Jones can likely come back and play next year. It was reported that Rodgers was planning on coming back to play THE SAME YEAR if the Jets hadn’t been eliminated from the playoffs. But I’m no doctor. Maybe Jones’ injury is worse than Rodgers’ and Cousins’. Wow, all three possessive surnames-ending-in-S? Philip RiverS might want to sit this out after all. Vanimal46 1

Yeah I need to update my timeline on achilles injuries. My default is a year at least but I suppose Danny Dimes could elect the faster surgery recovery that Rodgers chose. Both him and Kirko weren't the same last year but they technically played. Hell, Kirko still doesn't look good 1.5 years removed from his achilles tear. nicksaviking 1
