Defensive metrics can be a bit funny.  Lowe won a GG in 2023 and was a finalist in 2024.  He won’t be a defensive liability.

Agreed. Things can change season to season with defensive numbers. My original point was if we're going to sign/trade a 1B I want to have some confidence they're going to be better than what we already have. I'm not sure Lowe is that guy, but maybe.

My opinion, we have more than enough OFers. I truly believe atleast 3 of the OFers (probably more) on the roster can produce at an above average level. With Buxton, we are already 1/3 of the way there.

I'd be interested in Lowe for a multi year deal to lock up 1B. Aside from his time in Washington, he has been a solid player.

My other opinion for non tendered player. Jonah Heim. Now I could be wrong, but there is a lot of talk about cashing in on Jeffers. If he is traded, we'd have Heim and the recently acquired backup. Still a solid catching tandem and it brings back some sort of players, whether it be prospects or MLB ready talent.

Lowe sure. If they play OF it should be a not at this time. Look at IF especially good SS defenders. then you may be onto something.

Not sure with Lowe; which guy would we get? The one who looked lost at the plate in DC or the guy who bounced back in Boston? Does he return towards career averages in 2026 or has the slide begin for him? Should we expect career splits or is he going to get murdered by LHP for the rest of his career? (this would matter less if Kody Clemens wasn't the other 1B) Just don't know. Think I'd rather sign the RH bat?

The OF are both eff no. we don't need non-tender OF right now; frankly we have too many guys cluttering up the roster in the OF already (am I interested in more of the sunk cost of James "my name now represents me" Outman? No.) and I'm more interested in seeing what Gonzalez, Rodriguez, and Jenkins than I am with another retread. I'd rather see more of Roden than either of these clowns.

I would support checking out the switch hitting catcher from Texas, Jonah Heim. Shelton might save him.

J9nah Heim would make a a lot of sense as the Twins need catching depth behind or to compliment Jeffers.

I would too, but I don't know if they're finding that sifting through the nontenders, at least not one that's already into their arbitration years and would only come with a year or two of control.

My first choice would be investing in a real free agent

My first choice among things they might actually do would be to acquire a promising ready or near-ready 1B prospect in a Ryan/Lopez trade

I'd rather keep Ryan  / Lopez and see if we've already acquired that near ready 1B in the Bader trade.  He's already on the 40 man.  Let's see what he can do.  That's going to be a lot of what this season is about.

They just got their backup catcher (who will be btw the starting catcher by the trade deadline after Jeffers gets moved) who needs saving for $1.8MM last week.

So.....they'll need another catcher. 😀
