The other mention,  is that basically the entire bullpen is up for trade, I really wonder how its going to work.  Duran, Jax, Varland, Stewart, and Coloumbe.   Thats crazy.   Will we have to trade for relievers if we trade away a large chunk?

Besides Columbe--who is definitely getting traded--I'd guess they are going to keep at least 2 of the relievers, but they don't have a single one off-limits.

For this year, there are always guys on the waiver wire that are worth a look.  Stewart was a milb free agent when we got him.

Great point. VERY hard or argue with. My only defense is I'll take Kyle Schwarber as a Twin over idk... Anthony Volpe. 10 time out of 10. But I am cherry picking there.

Yes, but Schwarber is a far far better hitter and only played 7 games in the field this year and 5 games all of 2024. So, I will allow a pure DH. BTW, Schwarber hustles too.

You are correct, I'm real tired of the Falvey Twins.

Does anyone think Wallner, Larnach, Keirsey Jr., France, Vazquez, Clemens, and Gasper would even draw a lottery ticket in return? That leaves Jeffers, Lee, Lewis, Correa, and Buxton as MLB players on the roster. Bader and Castro are gone.

I think you could get something for Wallner for sure.  He is the only who seems capable of OPSing .800.  Larnach might get something as a platoon bat.  The rest might get you a bag of balls or something.  They all have little to no value that I can see.  If you believe Clemens and his near .800 OPS are for real they could maybe get something for him, but likely not much.

All the other guys are below replacement player level so no real value. Kiersey and Vasquez  might have some defensive value.  It is the deadline and strange things happen. We'll see.

Ok. So trade them all then.

I mean, sure? If our current owners want to pretend that they can't afford an actual MLB roster (minus a couple player's salaries that stand out) why not just go ahead and field the Saints in Twins uniforms until we get billionaires willing to actually invest in the roster again?

Well... 34-year old rental Tyler Rogers was just dealt for what I'd call a massive overpay... so I'm not so sure Painter is off any tables for Duran 👀

Massive overpay only because Rogers is meh.  The return is incredibly overrated.  Drew Gilbert has and will always suck.  Tidwell is probably appropriate value.  Butto is...unnecessary in this deal it would seem.  Not sure why he's in there, but it seems weird to trade a reliever and get one back.  Perhaps a way to open a 40 spot.

I read the title of this thread and thought to myself.

Is it possible the Phillies were using Jax as leverage in the Duran deal.

"Listen, the price is too high for Duran... there are other relief pitchers that I can get. I can always call the Twins and get something done for Jax instead".

Yeah I wasn't saying the guys they got were world beaters, but it was still two top 15 prospects from the organization. That's why I framed it as an overpay.
