Who would the Vikes have to add in a trade of Kwesi for Gutekunst?

Way too passive in free agency. Decent drafts, but I'd take several other GMs over him.

If I was GB I'd practice 4th and 3 here instead of the try draw offsides BS there

The GB offsides schtick is the biggest bunch of BS in the league. They let the center flinch and for some reason they give GB free plays just about every time even though they blow the whistle and stop the play for everyone else.

Kwesi.  Me too.

The NFC equivalent to KC tackle moving half count before the snap.

I hate that I think Philly is going to claim the #1 seed.

We have the tie-breaker against them. We win out, we have the #1 seed. Kind of nice to be in that position this late into the season.

We do not.  Have not beat them head to head, and the next tie-breaker is divisional record.  Philly is 3-0, we’re 3-1.  So if Philly wins out, we cannot win a tiebreak against them.  Even if they lose a divisional game, the next one is common opponents—we have 5 opponents in common with 6 games for each team (we have 2 against GB, they have 2 against NYG), so we would need them to lose a week 18 game against the NYG 4th string QB potentially to win that tiebreak.

Then it’s conference opponents, where we have each lost to 2 conference opponents, so no tiebreak for us there.  After that it’s strength of victory, where Philly currently has the advantage over us—maybe that changes if we win 2 of 3 against our slate compared to ours, but I don’t know.  And of course all of this is meaningless if we don’t win the North.

So long story short, unless Philly loses at least one of their final three games (@Was, Dal, NYG) there is no possibility for the one seed.

This sounds very close to math.

I think you're confusing conference record and divisional record. Divisional would be used to determine the NFC North (as I understand it), conference would be for the seeding in the conference.

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2024/12/15/24322150/minnesota-vikings-control-their-own-destiny-nfc-playoffs-nfl-playoffs

"The second tiebreaker is conference record. In a scenario where the Vikings and the Eagles both finish 15-2, they would each have a 10-2 record against the NFC, as they both swept their five games against AFC opponents. So that’s out.

The third tiebreaker is winning percentage in common games, with a minimum of four games necessary to make this tiebreaker applicable. In this scenario, their records would be the same at 5-1. Here are their common opponents:

With that, we move on to the next tiebreaker, which is “strength of victory.” Using the playoff prediction tool from Pro Football Network, in the scenario detailed above where the Vikings and the Eagles both finish 15-2, Minnesota’s “strength of victory” is .443, compared to .421 for the Eagles."

I vote for the eagles losing next week in Washington. If the Vikings don’t choke tomorrow and take care of their business, they’ll have a Seattle game that now looks a little less scary with the Qb situation. Then a home game against the packers and at the lions. I could see the Vikings actually losing to GB and possibly beating Detroit. GB is starting to worry me, not because of their record but because they look much better than I want them to.

I know everyone hates KC right now, but they cracked down on that specificity because of KC. They haven’t universally fixed the offsides inequality that has benefited GB for two decades.

Yup, definitely my mistake.  I missed the tiny line on NFL.com where it said the procedures following were for intra-division tiebreakers.

There was a playoff tiebreaker in Week 17 about 25 years ago that almost was determined by net points scored/against. My peak fantasy football years. What I remember was Mike Ditka coaching the Saints at that time, and his 3-13 team running the hurry up offense in the final minute and down by 30 points, because the team they were playing was involved in the tiebreaker. 😆 good times

Sounds like the Dolphins WR has movement in his extremities, which is good. Really scary hit.

I like DeMeco Ryans, but his team is starting to give off Sean Peyton vibes. His reaction after his LB knocked our Trevor Lawrence two weeks ago was not at all reassuring. I hope his responses are better this week because he'll get some tough questions.

I'm done with anyone that is happy they hurt another human.

I wouldn't say he sounded happy, but he sounded defensive and backed up the last player and downplayed the intent when he clearly tried to injure Lawrence.

I hope he doesn't do that again, but I'm guessing he'll continue to back his players and frame it to the team as an 'us against the world' kind of thing.

That was a blatant hit, and everyone knows it. so I'm done with him.

Lions RB Montgomery is now officially done for the year. Wow. That is a ton of injuries. I'd feel worse for them if I didn't think they were one of the dirtiest teams in the league.

Same. Did not realize there was another frightening injury this week. I’m only half following football at this point anyway.

I almost quit a few years ago, but it's something for me and my son to talk about, so I restarted... But I was totally uninterested yesterday.
