That last drive was probably Darnold's best over the whole season so far. Really clean game from him today.

Especially considering the penalties. But boy are there weak spots on this team. Too many

I'm very concerned about the OL if Robinson is out for any amount of time. It could get really messy during a critical stretch in the schedule.

I was already worried about it with Robinson. Of course Aaron Jones then went and had his best game of the year, so I don't know what to think.

Crazy game. It was either moments of brilliance or moments of jaw-dropping brain farts.

With three road games in a row and in a stadium they've struggled to play well in, I had them pegged for a loss today, so I guess this win counts as a win?

Take the win. We have the 4th best record in the league.

I'm surprised in this day and age of analytics that no reputable source tracks how many yards get credited to WRs for defensive penalties. Jefferson is on one of my fantasy teams (no one cares) and I've said to my buddies Jefferson has accounted for probably 400 yards of penalties on top of his actual production. Just today alone he was credited for, what, 70 yards of penalties?

And two on the bubble in San Fran and Indy.  Look, you can't say we "can't" do something when it quite obviously isn't true.  Frustration is fine, but the hyperbole and grousing is something else man.

San Fran, as in the 5-6 team last in its division, with a 0 point differential, lost by 28 yesterday, and is 11th in the NFC—that San Fran?

Indy, the team that’s 5-7, 9th in the AFC, and has a -32 point differential—that Indy?

There are playoff teams, and then there are teams that get into the playoffs; they are not the same thing.  The Vikings have played 3 teams currently in playoff position (also the only 3 teams they’ve played with winning records), and had a complete game against one, lost a close game against another (despite being at home coming off a bye when the opponent wasn’t), and got pretty fortunate to hold on to win the third.

The Vikings can only play the teams on their schedule, and they’ve done a great job for the most part this year in getting wins; but they’ve looked shaky doing it (only a +1 point differential since halftime of the GB game).

I don’t know what happened at halftime of that game; maybe KOC held a black cat while walking over a mirror under a ladder opening an umbrella while saying Candyman three times.  But the first 10 quarters this team played had them looking like a Super Bowl contender.  The last 34 quarters have looked mostly like a team that won’t get past the divisional round without a giant horseshoe.  Given the 3.4x bigger sample size, I’m inclined to believe the more recent form is the more realistic form.

According to the daily norseman, this was the first time in Vikings history where they had three straight road games and won them all.

This is awesome!  Look...this team won't win the Super Bowl.  It may not even win on the road in the playoffs despite their record.  Anyone who thought 10 quarters in that this was a Super Bowl team should bottle whatever they were high on.  (Or consider that maybe they should stop moving the goal posts to justify an unjustifiable position)

This team was largely thought to be a 5 or 6 win team.  A contender for a top 10 pick.

Instead....they won three games in a row on the road.  They're 9-2 with one totally understandable loss (in a tight game with the NFL's best team) and a disappointing loss on the road where they were in it even while playing pretty poorly.

How is anyone grousing?  Enjoy the fun football we're watching and enjoy the fact that this team had leaders in position that are turning out a 9-2 year with a team still transitioning to their (hopeful) best form.

We’re grousing because we all know how this is going to end. I’m 38 years old and I’ve never seen them even qualify for a Super Bowl in 31 years of following them. Think about that. Yes it’s great that they’ve overachieved since we all expected them to stink. But at the end of the day, barring a surprise, they’re going to be walking off some field in January with nothing to show for it except another playoff appearance. Just like all the other years. I suppose it’s always possible that they’ll go on a run like some teams do in the postseason, but what are the odds of that. That’s why it would be a little comforting to see them go out and bury some of these lesser teams. At least once in a while. The NFC is wide open after the lions, who I do think can be had. But we’re squeaking by these bad teams. The talent is there in a lot of sports but something seems to be missing.

I guess what I’m saying is, the NFC is having a down year. It wouldn’t take THAT much to get to the Super Bowl. It’s not like there are 5 teams ahead of us. But the in game mistakes are not instilling confidence.

And by the way, there are zero guarantees about next year either. We’re going to be counting on a rookie (who has had zero experience in games that matter and is coming off an injury) to just step in and put up even comparable numbers to what darnold is doing (9th highest passer rating). Again, I guess it can happen. But will it?

The very fact you think they could conceivably make the Super Bowl here at Thanksgiving would've made past Aggies roll on the floor with laughter had I said it in August.

It's always good to be critical and want better.  It's also always good to remember context.

Yes I would have laughed but that’s irrelevant now. Darnold is the 9th ranked passer in the league and the conference is having a relatively down year. This chance may not present itself again. I think this is only the 6th time they’ve started 9-2. The remaining schedule is full of possible playoff teams so we will see where they really stand in short order.

I appreciate that you really want that optimism and I agree that the NFC is weak, but I don't see this team with enough talent to make that leap.  They're a pretty good team, a much better one than I expected given what I saw as weaknesses at defensive line and QB, but they're not a real contender.

I'm not sure how you think games against the 6-5 Falcons, Seahawks, and Cards will show us where we stand.
