With the narrative being that Jim Harbaugh doesn't need a special QB, he just needs a game manager, I was secretly hopeful that he'd want to get out from under Herbert's contract and that the Vikings might be able to pull off some sort of McCarthy/Herbert deal this winter.

Harbaugh would be absolutely brain dead to do it though. Herbert looks like this decade's Matt Stafford. Tons of talent and production but a QB on a loser team. He probably won't be traded, they instead will/have put a non-loser team around him.

The Vikings need to find a mid round multi-use RB like Chase Brown. But I don't think they have enough picks to use one on a RB.

Right, owning San Diego to renting from the Rams. 

I could see them moving back at some point. Especially with the NFL becoming more and more of an 'experience' league. San Diego is a fun tourist city.

I think his salary cap hit basically made him untradeable anyway.

Man, if Cincy had a few more wins, Burrow would be the MVP frontrunner.

I'm not a cap guru, but it looks like the cap damage is much less after this season, and very manageable the following season.
