Anyone who has not seen a player actually play the game on numerous occasions has almost no credibility to discuss their fielding. Stratomatic is fun as are all types of statistics, but they do not tell you as much as what occurs on the field.

So analytics are bs? 🤣

If all you are doing is looking at numbers you are missing the game. I first used analytics (fairly complex) about 40 years ago, but I also watch and see with my eyes. I don't think you have seen Emmanuel Rodriguez play.

Last summer I was at a game at Target Field and Kyle Farmer (universally well-liked guy) was playing second base. The Twins were playing Cleveland. Farmer reminded me of a guy I played men's baseball with about 30 years ago who had been released from his MLB team and joined a local team about 18 months later; skilled but very much diminished in actions and speed. Age is undefeated and if analytics isn't picking up when someone has lost a step or three, an experienced objective eye will not lie.

We are never going to agree that all veterans are better and that younger players must wait their turn. If Rodriguez is ready, put him in. That is what Spring Training is for, especially when a team needs a jolt as badly as the Twins do next season.

If I were younger and had he time (money burning hole in pocket) I did 40 years ago, I would go to games to see them play 3D.

I do not , but from what I see, 2D,  of other players, some here Love dudes who look like they are in the wrong occupation so the I feel the eye test is very much controlled by likes and dislikes that have little to with shown skill.

SO, all I have to judge current players is numbers some one esle computed.

This site functions by such numbers and opinions, que sera, sera.👍

This is not your Tom Kelley Twins that’s for sure.  Rocco should get the team back out on the field for extra IF practice when the defense screws up badly.

Santana might've been even better if he didn't have a revolving door at second, shortstop and even third base. It was great have a solid steady presence at the bag.

Unfortunately his age, and just adequate bat, will keep him from returning. I could live with a repeat of 2024 if everyone else, across the barod, improved on their offensive numbers.

If Santana leaves, unless the Twins bring in above average veteran fielder ,  next year the Twins will be lousy from April to September.

Lee has good numbers at Third Base and after that, it is a Chinese Fire Drill every where.

The fielding percentage at the end of the stats, is all that matters there.

Fielding % is a crazy stat in the sense that official scorers tend to judge a play or player with their hearts. Too much bias. Especially today's game. Players complain and even submit appeals to have errors changed.
