Maeda in Game 1 is the Call, Ryan will Start

I'd rather get Ober in the pen to backup Maeda's Game 1 start, if Kenta falters early. If that means removing a pitcher, I'd keep Paddack and remove Varland, who has a live arm but not enough command of his heater yet. Paddack has showed much better command of his heater and his off speed stuff.

My view is subbing out Funderburk for Ober and starting the big guy in Game 1. Ober is rested and has been very effective since his time off in St. Paul. I'd start Ryan in Game 4 unless Maeda and Paddack have not been used, in which case they could go with Maeda backed by the Sheriff.

5 innings just means he’s fresh.  It’s not like Paddack’s a rookie with only 5 innings in the Bigs.  He’s got a track record.  Moving him to the pen might’ve unleashed something…

BAILEY OBER!!!! Lets Go! Nothing against Joe, he ias really good. This is pure playoffs, pure statistics. Ryan struggled in Hou earlier in the year. He is quite the weapon though to throw out in Game 4 at Target Field. Joe Ryan is the kind of guy who would understand that stats of this call. He also is the kind of guy who can use it as fuel.
