just a real bad outing for Maeda. Twins will probably need around 10 to win this one. Every game against Cleveland is a close one, no matter what the score. Gotta get this one though. Our pen will be taxed to the max tonite. Maybe we'll see Funderburk

The ump huddle, then the meeting with Rocco, etc

After the runner was called safe, he jogged to the dugout, assuming he was out. After he made it to the coaches box, the dugout let him know he was safe, so he tried to jump on third.

I didn’t catch whether time had been called. Had it not been and had he stopped at third, he would have been entitled to the base.

I don’t know if this was Rocco‘s argument, but he could have been saying that time had not been called and that the runner had given himself up by going past the dirt and towards the dugout.

In the end, the umps probably got it right by just sending him back to second.

Should have called him out for out of the baseline

Cutting ties with Floro? There’s no one else they can move to the 60-day, and that poses a different set of problems anyway. Someone getting DFAd is my guess to make room, but who?

Oliver Ortega got the 60 day, Ober was optioned

Well, we've reached 10.  Let's hope we don't need all of them to get a win.

This tight strike zone could be interesting for Funderburk - first major league game and tends to walk some guys.

Good Point, could tell right away Maeda tried to see what the ump would give him and realized he had to adjust, and couldnt do it,,  to many over the middle

Roy Smalley,    its like Punishment  after Perkins , time to switch over,,   Go Twins

I have no choice, if I want to listen or watch the game it's Bremer and Smally. I really  miss Blyleven.

I think they need more.

More would certainly be nice, I agree.  Just hoping we can get some shutout innings from the pen.

To add to the explanation on the previous post, both teams screwed it up. The ump at second clearly said Correa was off the base and the runner was safe.

Cleveland’s coach needed to let him know to stay on the base. When he didn’t and was jogging slowly to third, the coach next needed to direct him straight to third in an attempt to “steal” the base.

Similarly, the Twins screwed up in not catching that he was jogging to third. Had they seen him jogging, they should have easily been able to get him in a run down.

As I said, I didn’t see anyone call timeout, and the umps would have had no reason to call it without someone asking. When the umps got together, they could have easily ended the conversation quickly by saying, “Such-and-such asked for time and we gave it.” That that didn’t happen makes me think that no one asked for time.

I think the correct call SHOULD have been to call him out for giving himself up, but that would have been a hard sell to Francona. So the “safe” solution was to send him back to second and blame it on confusion.

That’s my perspective from Section 103, where I have a pretty good view.

Correct Mr Bremer...Kody Funderburk is not related to Mark Funderburk.
