Hey Royce, major league outfielders get to those short fly balls and they can make the throw back.

Lewis is a great talent, but he's got things to work on. He just might be the type to keep getting better and better.

Sounds like some great energy in the park tonight.

Little disappointed in the size of the crowd, though it is a weeknight. But yes, good energy. There was a bit of nervous silence early, but a six-spot will liven things up.

PA folks were hyped early, however, breaking out the infernal “Every-body-clap-your-hands” by the bottom of the second.

Concur. I still don’t like that they are wearing Marlins caps, but I like the rest of the kit.

They are wearing blue caps with white TC.  I  dislike their Marlin rip-offs too.

Correct — meant to say “when they are wearing.”

Was Lewis stealing?

No. Just got off too far. That’s several times when he’s gotten burned being too aggressive. Last week in Milwaukee, rounding first base too far when down four in the ninth.

Though to be fair, he was a bit in No One’s Land. If he tags and it drops, he could have been forced at third.

He's hit better than I was expecting but this is what I was talking about when I was urging not to put him in center or move him any farther than third. This, the throw earlier and several other teachable moments are mostly game action related.

It's easy to forget how few games he's actually played in his life. Just this week in one of the Athletic articles they were talking about how little high school game action he got as he played all the sports and not travel ball all year.

He does seem the type that picks it up quickly though and when he learns the nuance of the game he will only get better.

Cruise to the victory. Cleveland uses 3 key bullpen arms for the next two games.

We use the guy we just called up and our long relief man for 5 innings. Massive.

Duran, Jax, Thielbar, Pagan ready to rock for the last two.

A huge plus there, especially with the poor start from Maeda.

Game clock in his head. That's not a hard play to read right in front of you. When it looks like it's not going to be a dive work back. A bit to little experience and a little to much faith in youthful legs.

Sox lost also

Going 10-20 the rest of the way would give them a nice round 100 losses. I’ve got confidence they can do it.

The upcoming games against Cleveland should be Rocco’s make or break it games. If he can sweep both series it will be huge.  If they tie or lose he should be shown the door

No doubt Rocco is breathing a little more easily after this win. He lives to manage another day.

Great job by the two relievers. Winder gets credit for a save and Funderburk gets the win. I respect the decisions that managers make but I continue to be puzzled by the usage of "long relievers" Sands, Winder and Headrick. One and sometimes two of these guys have been on the active roster and they are never asked to pitch in high leverage situations. Too many times, a short outing or an injury leaves the team pretty short, but no matter what the long guy isn't used.

Winder is coming off two outstanding outings, but I doubt they'll ask him to pitch in a higher leverage situation.
