Not on my roster. And bringing him in with Polanco and Lewis both eventually being back would more likely lead to Kepler or Gallo being pushed off the 26 man than MAT. RpR 1

MAT, is break-glass emergency, late defensive replacement, and spot start against lefty only. In most scenarios, Kepler/Wallner/Larnach are better offensive options than MAT…same with Gallo

I value defense up the middle, especially when the strength of you team is run prevention, and MAT is better than Bellinger. I don't mind MAT being an everyday CF on this team nearly as much as I mind Gallo and Kepler being everyday cOF. But to each their own.

If that is true, I think the cost will be two high for a 2-month rental. If I had to trade for him, I'd try to package a couple borderline 40 man/rule 5 guys (2024) if that isn't enough, I'd move on.

There's a mutual option for 2024, with a $5m buyout. I'm not intimately familiar with MLB contract law, but I strongly doubt the Cubs can decline that option, then make a QO.

If the Twins won't take on the 11M or so left owed to Bellinger, they shouldn't be trading for him. I'm also not sure why the Cubs would be interested in Gallo and Kepler. Wouldn't they rather just eat some of Bellinger's contract for a better prospect and give their own young players at bats rather than rostering two guys who won't be there next year? Would all be in getting Raya.. and the lotto ticket prospect for the cost of Belly. All the rest is a wash...
