IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Don’t know if anyone’s interested in an All-Star Game Thread, but here goes. Not bothering with lineups — just offering a place for discussion if anyone’s watching and feels like chiming in.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Dislike the idea of generic “American” and “National” uniforms. Much prefer the multicolor pageantry of seeing everyone in their own duds. Saw a picture of a mid-1970s National League All-Star team a few days ago and it was awesome. Also think it helps kids learning the game to see the unis from all the different teams. Tlaker, Richie the Rally Goat, RickOShea and 1 other 4
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Best I can tell, this is the first time the Twins have had two starting pitchers make the team, but no hitters. Long careers from Harmon, Tony O, Carew, Puckett and Mauer will do that. Richie the Rally Goat and Tlaker 2

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Incredible catch by Adolis García fighting the sun in RF! IndianaTwin 1
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 And not an easy catch in LF by Arozarena, either! Folks, you're missing a great game! IndianaTwin 1

I'm an old guy and I'd like the players wearing their individual team uni's rather than "National" or "American" uni's. Wearing an AL or NL team hat would be enough for me. I've been watching the All Star Game since the mid 1960's...always enjoyed it. ashbury, IndianaTwin and Longdistancetwins 3
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 That bottom of the first was incredibly entertaining with Freddie and Mookie on the mic. ashbury and Longdistancetwins 2

Fox TV seems to be a minute behind the Gameday feed, so by monitoring both I'm prepared for a feeling of time warp. IndianaTwin 1
Longdistancetwins Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Luis! No surprise. IndianaTwin 1

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I don't see a pitch clock. Man, is this game dragging! (Not.) IndianaTwin 1
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 As articulate as Chris Archer was, he would have been fun to have a mic on when pitching.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Okay, Sonny. How about a quick 10-pitch inning and safely get back on the plane back home? Richie the Rally Goat 1

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 A few more pitches than ideal for Gray, but good enough for a throw day.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Carew had 36 plate appearances as a Twin. Reflective of always batting at the top of the order, with smaller rosters, when teams tried to win. Unfortunately, he was only 5 for 31 in those plate appearances.
