stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 No Miranda. Three games is a pretty short leash, but Miranda hasn't done much to inspire confidence. Michael A is also out. I presume if the Twins have the lead late, there will be a flurry of defensive replacements.

On the leadership side....giving him a day off to watch and relax more than he would if playing might not be a bad idea...

It's either at 2B or 3B, which means Miranda or Julien was getting a day off. With Julien not starting yesterday and Miranda hitless since his return, I don't mind the decision.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I don't like how Miranda is only getting 2-3 PA per game. I'd like him to go into a game knowing he's not getting pulled.

Same with late inning defense if they are up 1-2.
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I like the idea of Solano at 3B if he can play that position competently. If he can, that opens up 2B for Julien while still keeping Solano's bat in the lineup. Miranda looks awful at the plate so far and he can start Friday against a LH pitcher. I would venture to say that Mirana may not survive the All Star break on the MLB roster if Solano can play 3B. Farmer can platoon at 2B with Julien, and he and Castro are the UTl infielders. Miranda down, Wallner up after the ASG unless Polanco is back and ready to replace Mirnada on the roster.

Yeah, if Wallner was a replacement for Lewis he would have been called up instead of Miranda. Wallner comes up when/if an OF spot opens.

This is a very leaky infield regardless of whether Solano or Miranda is at third as long as Julien is at second.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Happy Birthday to Jorge Polanco. He is the big 3-0 today.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the lead will be comfy enough they won't have to worry about defensive swaps.

Dave Borton Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 OT: MLB has open "Game of the Day" this evening, Two former Twins going at it at 7.10p. Berrios/TOR vs Lynn/WSox.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 So much for first inning struggles for López.

MMMordabito Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Lopez should be good for a good 10-12 Ks in this one.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Gawd, that's some compact power right there.
