Yeah, I thought most second basemen would have had the one he missed yesterday and he had that bad throw to FB.  Maybe just first game jitters or maybe as you say Brock, "as advertised".  We will see

He could still improve but right now the scouting reports on him seem to be verified.

One of my disappointments during Arizona Fall League was that Julien wasn't really tested in the games I saw him play. Austin Martin bollixed up a double play ball at SS with a wide throw which Julien did well to deal with and even register the single out at 2B, but other than that there wasn't much to personally gain an opinion about. Of course, I could miss little things like positioning and footwork even when the play doesn't come their way.

He sounds like a hard worker, and is still relatively young so I'm hoping he gets better. But his footwork and hands are far from natural in the infield. I wonder what he looked like in the OF that they gave up on that experiment so quick. Not a great sign there I'd think.

He looks like a 1B/DH to me. Even the routine plays look uncomfortable, and unnatural. I get the move to keep him at 2B as long as possible, but he's got a long ways to go to get to where he needs to be to be an everyday 2B in the majors. No reason to give up on him yet, though.

I suspect the next week or so will be the battle to the death to see who stays and who goes when Kepler comes back, followed by the sane when Gallo comes back. Wallner, Julien and Castro have to show something to stay.  So far, Wallner and Castro have not. We'll see what Julien does. my bet is Wallner goes when Kepler is ready unless he gets hot, Castro stays until Polanco is ready, and Julien can only stay if he hits right out of the box and forces a decision. By the way, I'd start hitting if I was Gordon. He's next in line.

8-11 starts for most guys - no season ending opportunities at the end of 2 weeks. Pretty early to think Gordon may be going anywhere.
