The reporters ask Rocco/the Twins/Buxton and Polanco themselves basically everyday how they're doing. They get the same answer every time. Basically "they're good, they'll play in games soon enough, there's no reason to think they won't be in the opening day lineup." Some fans just don't believe that answer and think they're hiding injuries.

Thanks for this....I try to follow things pretty closely, but I don't remember seeing any actual video interviews (even on TD) where they say this.  I feel better LOL

Derek Falvey is on the radio (and TV simulcast) today.

Buxton - hitting in minor-league games.

Kirilloff - hitting off of the high-velocity machine today.

Falvey notes that sometime this weekend, they'll set a timeline for getting them into spring games.

What's largely different is fan expectation. Whether it's better or worse, it's definitely greater and more impatient.

Agree and 😠. (It's probably worse.)

It's totally out of line to think that Buxton (and every regular on the 26-man for that matter) should be in the lineup for every home game, both in ST and the regular season. Sorry, but that should not happen and it's just not going to.

What's with the starters rarely playing in ST.  Baseball is becoming more like the football pre-season where none of the starters seem to play.

ST was set at this length way back when because players came to ST out of shape from the off-season and needed all that time to get into playing shape.

With today's players coming in throwing 100mph out of the gate and with high exit velocity rates, maybe they do not need this long of a ST season and it's time to cut back on ST or start the season earlier with more games scheduled south early and end the season in early to mid-Oct so the payoffs are not played in cold weather.

They are still playing and getting in playing shape, just not in a game.

He is actually batting second in the lineup today vs Braves AAA team on field 3 as I type this.

And since Major League lineups in spring training tend to be full of AAA players, the AAA team is probably more like the AA team? 🙂

Keep following that chain of logic and pretty soon we're going to find out he was facing Cape Cod League pitchers.
