Best pitcher vs the Twins ever

Over t the Hardball Times, Chris Jaffe makes a list of which pitcher most "owned" each team. Against the Twins it was David Wells.

But in recent years, it's David Wells. Not only does he have a comparable percentage and lower ERA than those other guys, but Wells' entry here highlights one lamentable fact about the 21st-century Twins: New York owns them, especially come October. The Twins have faced New York four times in the ALDS and are 2-12. Wells started just one of those games, but not surprisingly, he won it.

I would've guessed the second guy on the list. Also, the good news is that on Twins pitcher made the list, though ill be surprised if anyone guesses who.

Got the whammy, AL teams

I would have guessed Andy Pettitte.

If you could count Steve Carlton as a Twin, we might have another pitcher on the list too! :)

What's depressing about that 2-12 playoff record against the Yankees is that cumulatively, after four series and 14 total games against NY, the Twins have yet to win enough games total to have even won ONE 5-game series against them.

And Luis Tiant, though obviously Carlton never pitched a game against the Astros in the Twins uniform and the Blue Jays hadn't been invented yet when Tiant pitched for the Twins.

My first thought was Mike Mussina agains the Twins too.

Playoff Pettitte sure did...overall, seems Pettitte owned Baltimore even more...

Dave Stieb (Jays) and Dave Stewart (A's) used to give the Twins fits as well.

For his career, Stewart had a losing record against the Twins (10-16) and had an ERA of 4.37. Maybe you meant just when he was an Oakland A? Steib did okay against us. Mid 3.00 ERA with a 13-14 record.

Without knowing the "rules," I wrote down "Troy Percival" in my brain. Career .402 OPSA vs. the Twins.
