starting tomorrow; on paternity leave. The Twins said that a "corresponding move" will be made. Here are the healthy remaining position players on the Twins' 40-man roster:

Chris Herrmann

Josmil Pinto

Danny Santana

Oswaldo Arcia

Joe Benson

Methinks that the Ossie Arcia era will begin tomorrow...

Didn't TR just say that he wasn't going to rush Arcia, that he didn't have much time in Double-A so he wasn't going to be in a hurry to bring him up?

Maybe they'll bring up a reliever "temporarily" due to bullpen fatigue.

The only relievers on the 40-man are:

Tyler Robertson (not eligible to return)

Caleb Thielbar

Michael Tonkin

I don't see it happening.

And I don't see them bringing in Gibson or May.

might activate De Vries, but he will be a starter

I'll take some Tonkin unless Mastro is still hobbled. the Twins need at least one healthy backup OF'er.

I think Arcia's promotion will be when he will be up for good and not a 3 game stint. That leaves Herrmann and Benson (who hasn't hit anything).

I think Herrmann is the most likely. He is versatile (catcher and OF) and has hit acceptably so far. If Benson is deemed healthy and the Twins don't want to look at a handful of at-bats, perhaps they will promote him for the three games (they would be replacing a RH hitting OF with another RH hitting OF). If Herrmann is moved up, the Twins would have to promote one of their three catchers at New Britain.

DeVries
Is this a guess or have you seen something? De Vries hasn't pitched since ST and might need a rehab start or two. It looks to me like he might be in on the revolving door that will be the Twins #4 and #5 starters in the first third of the season.

Despite the rash of short starts, the bullpen is still in pretty good shape. Probably Roenicke and Fien are out tomorrow, but that leaves Burton, Duensing, Pressly, and Swarzak. The short starts can't keep happening without consequences, but off days and good long relief stints from Roenicke, Swarzak and Hernandez have kept the workload for everybody else in the acceptable range.

Now if Arcia is hitting the way he has been hitting in Rochester, he will make Ryan's job difficult as far as sending him down... Matter of fact I would not mind to see Arcia start every game at LF and have Willingham at DH (where he defensively belongs)
