Talk about cherry picking!

If Larnach had a single year like that people here would be enraptured about he is the greatest.

Here is Young's entire career with the Twins, Larnach has shown NOTHING even close or hinted at it.

Trevor has 90 wrc+ right now. Better than Young's second year, and tied for another year....

At age 24 Young had 81 strike-outs in 153 games, the most he ever had was 127 in 162 games.

Larnach had 104 strike-outs in 79 games.

Those numbers speak for them selves; Young's problem was his attitude, not his skills.

More cherry picking.....I literally posted that yes, Larnach hads shown he can hit as well as Young just above, in a stat that looks at everything, not one outcome. Average, power, everything.

I look at actual results , not some pie-in-sky numbers that are based on a mathematical formula that has never played a game.

How rookies made the big show before bookie numbers replaced actual results.

We were talking about Larnach's probable outcomes as a player. I chose Delmon Young as a 50% likelihood comp because Young was defensively limited in the outfield most of his career, along with pedestrian OBP and power numbers leading to a league average-ish bat and because Twins fans are familiar with Delmon.

Delmon had a couple nice years in MLB, but was mostly just a veteran guy who filled a corner outfielder roster space cheaply for 6-7 years as a starter. I think that's what Larnach turns into 50% of the time. I also postulated Cuddyer is like a 97% Larnach. Likely near Trevor's absolute ceiling which is a 2-3 WAR corner outfielder with a respectable 10 year career as a starter.

This debate on whether or not Larnach's peripherals and triple slashes, etc have or are going to match 100%, 94.324% or 78% is kind of pointless.

Besides being suspended for throwing a bat an ump did Delmon ever miss an entire year because of COVID? Delmon was a God awful outfielder too. And strikeout rates this year are not comparable to 10 years ago.

Delmon was a horrendous player.
