I would agree that Shoemaker wasn't as bad as the end results... if it was not the case that it happens too often. Second or third time through the order he starts to get crushed. Maybe when Maeda gets back, Shoemaker can get piggybacked with Dobnak (kind of similar case).

The one that could be a serious problem is Donaldson. He has a big contract and is not really playing well at all. And he has 2 1/2 years left on that contract.

Sadly, I have to agree with all the Sano angst. He is really struggling to make even occasional, meaningful contact. Why in the world does he continue to be placed in the middle of the order?

Have you seen him take batting practice though?  Hits 'em to the moon, I tells ya.

Donaldson, Cruz, and San0. One of them needs to deliver. Some very non-productive at bats. It's a big hole in the heart of our lineup right now.

2.) He got BABIP'd (seeing eye singles) in the fifth, and

3.) The runners he left on base scored.

Looks like he didn’t miss bats in the 5th. Here is the xBA of the 5th inning PA:

.520 single, .400 single, .080 RBI groundout, .420 single, .180 single, walk

"Shoemaker put his team in a position to win, limiting walks and keeping the ball low and around the zone. "  Are you kidding me.  I suppose if you give up one one run an inning you have a chance of winning - Fat Chance!  Were you hired to be Shoemaker's press agent?  David, I know you do not like to say anything bad about any Twin, but Shoemaker stunk.  And so did Sano and so did Donaldson and ... Way to go Kiriloff.

You're not wrong, Mike haha. Definitely not a start to write home about but I'd consider it 'decent' in comparison to what we've seen so far this year.

I've said it before. Put the Shoe in long relief. He is fine for 3-4 innings and that's it. As far as Sano, we missed the chance to trade him when he was hot. Now all we'll get is a bucket of (used) balls.

That I can agree with, unfortunately what we have seen before is terrible so the bar is quite low (except in Detroit).
