There are some details about Cave's injury at the Star Tribune:

Jake Cave's sore lower back isn't just sore, the Twins have discovered — it's damaged. A stress reaction, basically one step short of a fracture, will sideline Cave indefinitely, the team announced Saturday, so the veteran outfielder will be placed on the 60-day injured list.

...

Cave ... has been trying to play through a sore back recently, but his condition grew worse in Chicago last week, and an examination discovered the stress reaction.

Refsnyder has consistently posted 120-130 wRC+ figures in the upper minors since 2014, but that hasn't translated to MLB so far: career 66 wRC+ in 457 PA.

Refsnyder used to be a second baseman, but has only appeared in a single game at the position at any level since 2017.

I wonder why Resnyder and not Broxton

From the article: Refsnyder "was chosen, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said, because the Twins believe he is a better balance of offense and defense than another Saints outfielder, Keon Broxton."

I suppose I would agree, Broxton is not a good player.  Counterpoint:  Refsnyder is not a good player either, and they are both over 30 years old.  Have the Twins exhausted their pool of prospect talent already?  It's mid-May....

With some luck, Refsnyder comes in hot and does some damage before his imminent retirement from baseball.  Unfortunately, this just blocks a prospect.  (And with even more luck, Broxton is never needed.)
