Larnach crushed a HR today. That's good enough for me! Call him up.

Right now the Twins OF consists of Buxton (good), Garlick (good against lefties), Kepler (good at hitting bloop singles), and Cave (good at ... well he's decent at growing a beard).

Who is trading anything for Cave?

Good question. Any one who needs a corner or 4th OFer. Cave would be worth a decent reliever but I'd go for a good closer and add 1 or 2 additional players. That would alleviate our 40 man problem, for the time being.

No one will make that trade right now. Cave is essentially valueless at this point.

Who should Broxton made the roster over? He is 30 and has a career ML slash line of .209/.286/.388. He hit the ball well in ST, but other than that I don't think he moves the needle much if any.

No one is trading a relief worth anything for Cave at this point. That's a pipe dream.

Many teams had looked at early stats of Donaldson, Cruz and Luis Castillo and had given up on them. But one day they were able to put it all together. The team that gave them that opportunity were greatly rewarded. All those previous stats are worthless because they are different players. 2018 Twins were ready to send Buxton down again to the minors because they didn't like his stats, they might have been ready to give up on him, like many fans had. But Rowson knew his potential and put his foot down. Now we need to thank Rowson for his faith in Buxton.

Today, I read an article on PIT Richard Rodriguez. When asked what contributed to this season's success? He didn't say I did this or didn't do that. He responded, it was the confidence that manager Sheldon had shown him and the support of the team.

I don't care about Broxton's past stats, I only see his potential and how close he is to find himself. Baldelli lost another opportunity to follow Sheldon's example by seeing the potential in Broxton and express confidence in him. Maybe it's not Baldelli's fault but again it could be FO's fault. But whose ever fault it is, it needs to be corrected. Celestino is the near future Buxton's replacement but now Broxton is our best replacement, we have suffered tremendously having no one to adequately to do the job for too long.

There are 2 extreme camps on Cave. One is he's a great Buxton's replacement, the other is he's worthless and some times people fluctuate between the 2. The truth is he's an OK LFer and there's worth in that. To obtain a very good closer we'd have to include more players off the 40 man roster which would be even better.

I agree on Buxton but I’m sorry, I think you badly overrate Cave.He is not an OK outfielder because he simply doesn’t hit well enough and hasn’t for quite a while. I think he has shown that at his best, he is a serviceable fourth outfielder on a decent team and more likely the fifth outfielder on a good team. He simply does not have much value on the trade market. Any trade for a decent reliever would have to settle around the value of the prospects we givr up, with the possibility of Cave as an additional throw in to slightly sweeten the deal.

Broxton is almost 31 years old, has played in four organizations, and has a career minor league OPS of .754.

Exactly what do you think he is that literally hundreds of coaches, analysts, and baseball minds have missed over the past dozen or so years?

I'm generally positive about Cave, moreso than a lot of people here, and this could almost be my take on him word-for-word.

The only caveats is that he really hasn't been "bad' for that long (less than 200 PAs). I'm not completely sold that he's not going to bounce back somewhat but given his marginal overall ceiling as a platoon fourth OF, I don't really care about him, either. If the Twins want to get rid of him, I'm not going to cry about it... but no one is going to give anything of value for him so let's put that idea to bed.

Fans often seem ready to punt after the third game of the season. I hope the front office is a touch more stable and rational than that.

Particularly when one considers that they are 5 games back as I type. They trail a Kansas City team that is likely overperforming, a Chicago team that just lost their second stud and has no depth, and a Cleveland team with a crummy offense.

I agree with you about Cave. He's not worth much. He might pass as a corner OFer starter on a desperate team. If FO and fans don't think he's worth looking for an trading partner, fine. They should have DFA him when they broke camp and open a space for some one else more worthy.
