Who would you give up to trade for Betts?

Mookie Betts will be a free agent after this year and will be making $27.7 million. He will probably sign a HUGE contract with someone after this year. That being said, is he a player you would be willing to splurge on for one year, in an attempt to go for it all? What would you be willing to give up?

Here is my proposal:

Byron Buxton, Luke Raley and Cole Sands.

It would be heartbreaking to lose Buxton. Especially to get Mookie for only 1 year. I get it. But I am putting my chips all in. Getting a deal done early would also help to entice a FA pitcher or 2.

CF: Kepler

SS: Polanco

RF: Mookie

DH: Cruz

2B: Arraez

C: Garver

LF: Rosario

3B: Sano

1B: FA (would love to sign Castellanos here and try him at 1B, but I think he gets a long term deal somewhere)

*I don't even know how to put a lineup together with these players.

*Kiriloff/Rooker would take over for Betts after this year in RF

*Sign 2 of Wheeler/Bumgarner/Hamels

What would you give up for Betts?

No way I'd do that. Buxton is here for three more years. No way. Zero. Nada. Nil. Nyet.*

I'd deal any two minor league players not in their top ten.

I"d deal Rosario, since he only has two more years left here.

I'd not do any deal if it kept them from budgeting money for an elite SP.

*I know those words don't all mean exactly the same thing.

I definitely wouldn't trade Buxton for Betts.

The most I'd go would be Rosario, Larnach and maybe someone like Gordon, but even that feels a bit heavy on the Twins side. It also leaves the Twins questionable in the corner OF for next year. Rooker and Kirilloff are nice, but are no sure things, and also may be needed to play 1B.

It'll never happen. I like Betts but you don't give up Buxton and more for one year of him. And Betts is great but part of that greatness is the fact that he plays at Fenway. He's probably not the same hitter outside of the AL East bandboxes.

The entire current roster and he would have to bowl for the Twins off season bowling team.

Give me a break. Twins are supposed to bust the budget this year so how are they supposed to get Betts next year?

They will already have Cole, Strasburg, and Rendon on the payroll and Rosario will already be traded away.

Hence the need for Betts. Duh.

Well, the preface is always "I wouldn't trade for Mookie at all if he wasn't going to agree to a long term extension." But if he were to agree to one, I'd give up an awful lot for a player of that caliber. Buxton, Kiriloff, and Gordon for Mookie and a prospect if that gets it done, but if it doesn't I'd pivot and give them 2 of Lewis, Kiriloff, and Graterol, plus Larnach/Raley and probably be able to get some lower level prospects back in that deal too.

Players like Betts aren't a dime a dozen, and if you have the opportunity to lock them in for a long term deal I think you have to take it. For the record, I'd do the same for Lindor even though he's in the division.

Not much, just because I know we wouldn't be able to sign him. He might be trade bait this year, but he is a Yankee in 2021.

I'd give up Rosario and a low end prospect, but it wouldn't be enough. I just don't think pushing all your chips in on a guy with one year remaining is smart.
