Warning, nitpick alert:

On the unusual play in the bottom of the first Dicknjack referred to the contact between Merrifield and Astudillo as possible obstruction. This is incorrect. Interference is when a baserunner illegally interferes with a fielder or a ball in play. Obstruction is when a fielder illegally obstructs a baserunner's progress. It may not seem like a big deal but these guys have been involved with baseball in one way or another for probably 100 years between them. They are ostensibly professionals. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to use correct terminology.

Thank you for indulging me.

I believe this is the second time you have correctly pointed this out. If only Dickbert would lurk the game thread.

Hey, thanks for paying attention! Yes, it's the second time recently. Unfortunately I have trouble restraining myself from pointing out mistakes that should not be made.

Ran an errand so missed Sano's blast. He must read this site, because he followed our advice to a T(D) -- let a couple balls go by, then swing. Works every time.

Cron should have been standing on first base. Infield fly was called so he did not have to be in position to try to advance to second. A major leaguer should know that. I'll give him a break that it was a brain cramp but I'll bet he'll be reminded about that in the dugout.

Edit: see post #37.

When do you guys think Brent Rooker is going to get his chance? Been crushing AAA lately.

Really like Arraez. He may end up being a key piece in a trade moving forward.

I'd guess September on Rooker! I hope we keep Arraez!!! :) \m/

Assuming the W, this is just the kind of game that was needed.  They have been paying the price for the 17 inning win with no off day to regroup and starters struggling.

BTW, with Garver and Schoop being a bit gimpy that leaves us with only Castro on the bench. It's lucky that we have Astudillo on the roster.

What can you say about Berrios? I am so glad to have him as a Twin, and I would love to see him stay in Minnesota long term.

I hope he gets the win in game four to close out the world series.

I could live with that, I guess, but I much prefer a 7 game WS.

CJ Cron has as many RBI through yesterday's game as Mauer had for the entire 2018 season.

There you go again, picking on Mauer.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that, with more than half the season yet to go, 8 players already have more home runs this season than Mauer had in his best full season out 9 after his 2009 MVP year. Or that 11 players already have more bombas than the number he averaged over those last 9 seasons

Or that 9 guys have a higher OPS than he averaged. Or that 5 guys have OPS numbers higher than his best over those 9 seasons.

I thought I'd stick to what I consider a valid comparison...the guy that took his place on the field. With RBI, a measure of production I consider incredibly important to winning.
