For anyone wondering, this is probably the type of return they could expect in an Austin deal. They don't have much leverage. Not saying it's good or bad - I think those who aren't on the Austin bandwagon wouldn't care much either way. Just kinda interesting to see the return here for what looks to be a starting OF. Yep, Reed may wind up being San Fran's best starting outfielder. They're in pretty bad shape over there. Good for him, he's going to get a real shot this year.

 

Nice for the Twins to get a non 40-man guy. Here's hoping our starters in the OF (+Cave) do what they're supposed to do this year and the Twins won't need to call up their new asset.

He used to be on their 40-man, and was DFAed during the off-season. That doesn't speak well to the demand for his services.

The AP reported it as Reed for Andreoli and Cash. I don't see anyone names Sash in the Giant's organization. Hopefully cash wasn't the change found in Zaidi pocket and can buy someone else useful to the team.

Usually the cash in these kinds of deals is basically the waiver fee ($50k). Because that's what the Twins would get if we simply put him on waivers and the Giants claimed him. They just added a AAA piece to basically jump ahead of 9 teams in the waiver order.

Obviously something is better than nothing, but I find hard to believe Reed wasn’t worth at least a rookie ball player, or another bullpen arm.

Remember, the Twins got Reed for the $50k waiver fee just a few months ago. At least 11 teams passed on him at that price, at that time.
