Blake Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Quite a few years ago, "The Who" came up with what was probably the first rock opera, which they wrote and recorded. "Tommy" was performed quite a few times until one day, Roger Daltry, at a live performance, said this was the last time "The Who" would perform "Tommy." At which point, the late late Keith Moon jumped up from behind his drum kit and hollered, "Thank God." I mention this, as this is my swan song for game threads this year. And, I expect the Twins Daily crowd is jumping up and collectively shouting, "Thank God!" Seriously, though, it's been a great ride and I hope I've been able to make a few people laugh. Or, at least politely clap. It's been fun and you've all been a great audience! Try the veal and tip your waitress!

tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 End of the top of the first. Same result as last night. I guess the Twins did not learn from the Royals last night how to advance a runner from second base so he will score. PITIFUL! The Twins are playing sloppy baseball. I think I'll turn this game off and go for a walk in Hurricane Florence.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Fields is on a roll. His BA with the Twins is now over .100.

snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Way to go Johnny! I said to nobody.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 This reminds me of a spring training game, but without the hope of a regular season to come.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 In looking through the position player lineup at the newer acquisitions, is there anyone that may have a future with the Twins?
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Ugh. As soon as the grill is in the shade, I'm ditching this game and firing it up.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Well how about that. Jorge!
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 In looking through the position player lineup at the newer acquisitions, is there anyone that may have a future with the Twins?Does Astudillo count?
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Does Astudillo count?Yes, please.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I really like Astudillo's approach to each at bat and his enthusiasm. Even though he is not playing today he is active in encouraging the other players.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I like that when I took my wife to the game a week ago he walked it off. And that hair.

snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Ow, ow, ow, ow Austin.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Great hustle by Austin there, but he was lucky not to be hurt.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I like how Gibson thanked Austin after the third out.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 Great hustle by Austin there, but he was lucky not to be hurt.Looked like he landed fairly square on his back but, it looked like hips meeting the barricade might have been where things really hurt. Either way, ouch!
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 That railing height seems to be unfortunate. Austin folded right over it at the waist.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 That railing height seems to be unfortunate. Austin folded right over it at the waist. Padding is not expensive. I wish that there was more of it in MLB ballparks.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Haven't started the grill yet. Will it be chicken or burgers?
snotboogie Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Score one for chicken.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Johnny Field. You can not stop him, you can only hope to contain him.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Johnny Field. You can not stop him, you can only hope to contain him.Or pick him off at first base.

glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Da-yum Glunn, You called it!I posted after the pickoff.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Hildy needs to not throw it right down the middle of the plate.
