jtkoupal Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I don't think you can overstate how important it is for the young pitchers (Stewart, Gonsalves, etc.) to work out some of their kinks over the next 6 weeks. They won't be polished players, but get to get some of the kinks worked out in meaningless games is invaluable. I'd like to see some Romero and Littell before season's end as well. It's entirely possible that all of these guys could be busts. There are no Strasburg-type prospects here. However, if an arm can emerge in these last 6 weeks, that could save a lot of money this offseason that could be spent on relief pitchers.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Garvin Alston is "G-Man"? Doesn't this team retire nicknames, along with numbers???
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I got an idea... Why don't we hit it like that?
mrmpls Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 this Gonsalves kid is not a big time pitcher, for all the hype the last 2 years, im not seeing it anyway, no one good pitch that he can control, Kohl stewart has more upside, to me anyway
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Molly is never going to trust rookies when they pitch like this...
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Only 4 runs in 4 innings. Good to see that season ERA coming down for the rookie.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Molly is never going to trust rookies when they pitch like this...Rochester pitching staff to Gonsalves: "See Stephen, this is why we can't have nice things."
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I'm not generally a fan of mind-reading, but Gonsalves's demeanor after the leadoff batter in the fifth reached says, "Skip, come and get me."
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Mauer quietly saved a blown pickoff throw there.
OTPS300 Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 What a treat to listen to Jim Thome in the booth. He is one of the classiest and most humble great players there has been, in my opinion.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I have a portcullis, if you want me to drop by...Not if you're still contagious.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I never wanted to believe my Dad was stealing from his job as a road worker. But when I got home all the signs were there.Yeah, that reminds me of the ship building documentary I watched this morning. Riveting.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Interesting trivia: Lou Trivino, Oakland A's pitcher, is not related in any way to World Golf Hall of Famer Lee Trevino.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Yeah, that reminds me of the ship building documentary I watched this morning. Riveting.I recently had my deck rebuilt after snow damage last winter. Near the end of the job, the construction foreman dropped his thermos on the deck surface and it broke in two. Weakest flooring I ever saw.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Interesting trivia: Lou Trivino, Oakland A's pitcher, is not related in any way to World Golf Hall of Famer Lee Trevino. What are the odds of that?
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Andy Samberg, I mean Alan Busenitz, is doing a pretty good job in relief tonight.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 More long odds: The Earth is undefeated in Miss Universe contests.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Not if you're still contagious. Contagious? Everyone is indeed trying to get my still. That's why i needed the portcullis...
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Alan Busenitz, of course, has a predictable nickname. However, he apparently spells it "Buze." Lame.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 More long odds: The Earth is undefeated in Miss Universe contests. Only because we don't have an entry in the gas giant division...
