None of the trades has brought back anything yet that looks likely to contribute to a pennant winner. Frankly they could have stuck with the status quo and let this sad season play out the string, to very little detriment or value either way. I wanted the pennant race, too. The team's not giving that to me, and I moved on.

First comes Denial, then Anger at the front office... Perfect, this was perfect. It does seem like most of the people resisting the direction of the FO are stuck in this. And some of the justifications or arguments against it? Woofta. We're arguing about how great 8% odds are and how critical a blow it is that Ryan Pressley won't be on the 2019 Twins. I want to give some of you a hug. You're so far out of your rational minds on this I feel nothing other than the need to console you. Seek help. Go cry into a bottle of Tequila about April-July. But rejoin us when you've sobered up and gone through the stages guys. This is thte right call.
alarp33 Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I've already killed my Snoopy avatar, if that's any indication Look I knew it was bleak. But I wanted to see what happened. There are (or, were) signs that a nice run of baseball might happen. Like the sweep in KC? Mauer called the Escobar trade a "punch in the gut." He was right. The radio guys said the team left the Boston clubhouse after the game that night hurt and mad (I think that's what they said, or that was what was conveyed, anyway). I'm a big fan of everything Mauer has done for this franchise, but you know what was a punch in the gut? Losing 11 of 12 to end April, or losing 7 of 8 to end May, or losing 11 of 13 to end June/start July. Would've been great if this team showed emotion like being hurt or mad during any of those losing streaks that torpedoed the season
