Soccer is growing on me. There international component is so amazing, and the world cup is a great example of this. Mexico already beat Germany. Russia has the easiest pool in the history of pools. It was announced the tournament is coming to the US Mexico and Canada in 2026... so hopefully we qualify.

I’m surprised no one started a thread here before now. I haven’t watched any of the games, but was thrilled Mexico beat Germany ... I always like seeing the ‘under dog’ win. Hope there is more of that.

The watch parties in my neighborhood were at neighborhood bars. You could just go and hang.

This tournament has been full of awesome games so far. With my Azzurri failing to qualify, I thought i’d just pass on the whole deal, but it’s been great.

The USA will get an automatic berth and early indications are all three host countries likely will. The tournament is expanding to 48 teams by 2026, so that likely makes it a lot more feasible. It certainly helps Canada much more than the other two, lol.

I don't know much about soccer but it's cool that it's coming here in 2026 - I'd go to one of those games, seems like a fun atmosphere.

Anyone watch that comeback by Germany today? Fun game to watch. I really enjoy the world cup games. Germany definitely deserved that win.

Been telling everyone that will listen that Croatia was my dark horse. However, now that they’re up against England, and have just slogged through two extra time games and penalties, I think “it’s coming home” for England, who have always been my team.

 

That’s a full on jinx, obviously.

They also failed to put the game away in the first half. It should have been at least 2-0 at halftime. Harry Kane will be having nightmares about his misses.
