I’ve been noticing a lot of players wearing the extended “jaw protector” flap on the batting helmets. Used to be that only guys with an injury there used them.

Is that going to be the new normal?

That would be nice and long overdue, as are pitcher helmets

How does it go off the rails like this.

Fangraphs has a nice article explaining the metrics behind the forces working against the Twins this year, which are summed up below:

It would nice if Slegers was able to go another 5 to show us what's he got.  Of course, he was probably told he was going to pitch the rest of the game no matter how well/badly he did.

Okay, a poll ... which laces do I go with on my new shoes?

None of the above. Go camouflage, and enjoy the intoxicating ninja power of invisibility.

Injuries have hurt, but that can't explain all of it.

I think back to 1997. After 1996, there was a ton of optimism in Twins country. Cordova had built on his ROY with a 111 RBI in 1996. Becker broke out hitting between Knoblauch and Molitor. Stahoviak looked primed to break out. Todd Walker was the trendy preseason ROY pick. Improvement was expected from Frankie Rodriguez and Rich Robertson. Aggie was back to the closer role after starting in 1996.

It was a disaster from day one. Stahoviak got hurt stealing a base (of all things) and literally none of the up and comers showed progess other than Radke.

Tom Kelly famously said “I guess we overated some people”.

IMO, that is exactly the case in 2018.

Sigh ... and then there’s that ...

That didn't take long. At least we don't have to lose another low-scoring 1-run game tonight.

I'm taking the dog for a walk. Y'all better work at cutting into the lead while I'm out.

Sure, ... but it's good to look at this situation from another point of view

Okay, the shoelace dilemma ... I’m thinking cream for summer, brown for winter. But I’m also kind of getting used to one of each and might just wear them like that.

Looks kinda like Los Indios are going to put us permanently in the rearview mirror with those couple of series coming up.
