DFA Hughes

If he gets a long leash, and pitches like this, I truly will believe no front office can be successful with this ownership group. Because no front office would keep sending him out there.

And, this front office proves over and over they don't want young players. I said I'd give them three years, but they are making this hard.

The quotes from Molitor and Hughes, in Derek Wetmore's column this morning, seem to suggest that he's going to get a pretty long leash. As I expected.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Hughes is getting a long leash until he runs out. Molitor isn't going to indicate anything other than support for a struggling veteran.

Prediction -- the leash is two more starts, perhaps a third.

  1. Hughes on Wednesday, May 2.
  2. Hughes on Monday, May 7.
  3. Then, with off days on the 9th, 14th, and 17th, they could get by with only one more start from the No. 5 until Trevor May is eligible to return on May 28.

I have to say it is sad that people are counting on May who hasn't pitched since 2016 and started a game since 2015 to come in and help anytime soon as a starter.

One more thing it is hard to watch Molitor take out starters too soon.

Berrios only had 60 pitches when he got pulled.

It has to be tough knowing that anytime after the 5 inning for sure the 6 you have to finish perfect or you will be pulled. Odorizzi was pulled after 91 pitches after giving up a hit in the 7th. Gibson shut down after 6.

Even Hughes let try getting out of the 4th and see if he can get you 5 or 6 before he gets to 100 pitches.

[Potentially] Very good news:

Phil Hughes is no longer listed as the Twins' scheduled start for Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

They're listing TBA for the time being. Hughes hasn't lasted four innings in either of his first two starts with the Twins.

On the money, you were- Yoda.

Lynn has to have a pretty short leash at this point also. I wouldn't be afraid to send both him and Hughes packing. What is the difference if they get shelled or some youngster does? Maybe it's small sample size for the season, but watching them pitch, neither of them looks to have it anymore.

Hoping Lynn at least turns it around, but how many games are they gonna watch him walk a pile of guys and give up 5-6 runs a start?
