I was fully prepared for another disappointing game vs GS.  Does that mean I should be prepared to hope to win tonight ?  I hope so.

Just when I think there is no hope the Wolves defeat the Warriors (minus Curry and Draymond) and the Wizards (minus Wall). I didn't think the Wolves could have defeated the Grizzlies at this point so I don't care if those teams were missing a player just like the Wolves are. It is great to see them playing well.

And Bjelica has been doing great. I have been a fan of his skillset since he came to MN but he could never stay healthy and get into the flow of the game. Is he better than Wiggins?

Belly is probably a more consistent competitor than Wiggins, but no, he’s not even on the same planet talent wise. I like Belly a lot, though. Last night, however, Wiggy showed that he has it in him to be a top defender, if only he can get his head in the game. Good stuff, if only in spurts for now.

Perhaps Bjelica is a better fit for the team with Towns, Butler and Teague on the floor. Wiggins is of course crazy talented and my hope is that he figures out a role with Butler out right now. Bjelica seems like a better complement though since he can move around on the 3 point line while the other 3 are dominating the ball.

Big win today. Wolves are 2.5 games ahead of the 9 seed and 1.5 behind the 4 seed. This would be a lot more exciting if I confidence in this team right now. Please come back Jimmy.

At least the Wolves have an easy schedule from here on out. A lot of tanking teams so hopefully they take advantage of that.

Wiggins was on fire tonight. Gonna give some props to that.

Wolves likely finish no worse than 8-2. And all of the teams surrounding them (Utah, SA, OKC, and N.O.) either play each other multiple times or have much more difficult schedules. I think Portland has #3 locked up, so Wolves SHOULD finish #4, #5, or #6 if they take care of business.

8-2 (or even 9-1) would be a solid prediction with Jimmy. I just don't have the same confidence in the Wolves w/o Jimmy. Denverx2, Utah, Philly and the suddenly not terrible Lakers present challenges. And I wouldn't put it past them to spoil one of the tanking team's dreams.

Called it!

What a  joke.
Maybe it would be best if they just **** the bed the rest of the way, maybe that would make them realize that they need to FIRE THIBS.

Unreal. I look forward to the Wild figuring out how to top this tomorrow :)

The Wolves will not miss the playoffs. That would be too...predictable?...tragic?...I mean, we’re all afraid of it because we’re all MN sports fans, but it’s pretty damn unlikely at this point, just based on the schedules the competition have to get through (lots of games against one another).

So here’s the thing: as long as they don’t end up with the 8th seed, I like their chances to win at least one playoff series this year.

If the Wolves have to play the Rockets, it’s a five game series tops. That would suck super hard. But, i think that with a healthy J Buckets, they can match up with any other team pretty well in a 7-game setting. That includes the Curry-less warriors, in my opinion, based on the way that the Wolves (even Wiggy) have defended KD. That said, Sunday’s game against the Jazz is easily the most important game of the season. That game is going to be fun with a capital Eff.

If Butler is really the difference between losing at home to Memphis- a team that hadn't won a single road game in 2018, and beating GS in a playoff series, then he is the single most underpaid player in the history of sports, and had better win every single MVP vote.

Sorry, not buying it.

It's one thing for him to carry this sorry team in a singular game during the regular season here and there. It's a totally different thing to do it for a full series.

A) Games are singular events and huge swings can occur

B) Not many have said that the Wolves would be favored to win a series against GS but there would be a chance of upsetting them.

The Wolves w/o Jimmy are a 40 win team tops. With Jimmy they are a 46-48 win team. Right now they have the chance to lose to some bad teams and they will sometimes.

Good Lord, my post a week ago was incredibly off...

Thibs is not a good coach for this team.  Wish he didn't have 3 years left on his contract.

In the sense of anything can happen in sports sure.

But, I was mostly responding to Pardon, who said he likes their chances to win at least one playoff series.

I interpreted that to mean that he thinks they are at least somewhat close to a coin flip. (Why would he like their chances otherwise?)

I just don't buy that Butler is superhuman enough to win a series against GS, with a team that lost at home to Memphis.

To me that shows zero mental toughness, as even minimal desire would be sufficient to beat Memphis.

Well they were 3rd when Jimmy went down, and this is a very thin team. The same thing happened with the Gophers. They had no depth and losing a couple of good players took them from top 25 to the worst team in a mediocre conference.

Yeah, Jimmy’s contribution is way bigger than his line in the box score. Seems obvious to me.

Well yeah, nobody is doubting that.

I just question if even Butler can carry a team like this to a series win over Golden State.

It's hard to overstate just how awful Memphis is, especially on the road.

At some point, one guy, even one as awesome as Butler, can only carry so much of the load.

Regardless, the great thing about sports is there are very few philosophical arguments. Soon enough we'll get to find out the answer!
