Blaine Boyer... the middle relief equivalent of the woman you talk to for five minutes at your 25th high school class reunion before you remember that you went on a date with her your junior year.

Heh....  A well-turned phrase there.

"Sorry, Julie, I didn't recognize you in that big red beard..."

Now Escobar boots one. Is there such a thing as an error 'cycle' for defenses?

Usually it takes extra innings or a West Coast road game for me to be this out of gas for the end of a Twins game, but with the help of some rain the Twins have managed the improbable feat of pretty much losing me in just the 6th inning of an East Coast game.

At least all of Belisle's runs are unearned so the "he isn't as bad as his stats indicate" crowd can put another feather in their hats.

Hey!  Only 4 Earned Runs so far!

We're actually not pitching that badly, riiiiiight?

At the very least I guess you have to admire the very progressive way in which they've more evenly distributed the futility tonight compared to other losses.

A democratic loss?

This is simply excruciating

The sad part is that you wrote that before Dozier's Messi booting of the ball into left field.

They were just getting warmed up.

This would be a magnificent time for Dick to mention once again that blowout losses like this one have made the Twins' poor run differential irrelevant this year.

Because frequent poor starts and a dreadful bullpen don't indicate a glaring weakness, I guess.

I was going to give that a Like but didn't want to be accused of violating anyone's safe space.

After all, this is the kind of game people depend on for a lift when they're feeling emotionally disadvantaged.

Edit: What the hell, my profile is anonymous and my Like quota resets at midnight...

I wandered out of the pub when i realized it would close before the game ended, which made the fellow running it happy he wouldn't have to deal with the traffic.

It was only 3-0 at that point. Said hi to some friends and am only now catching up on the carnage...

We can stil come back though.

At the rate the Twins are going tonight your pub might have a change of ownership before this one is over.

I am sorry to squander another thread intro opportunity, and also apologize if that has adversly affected your enjoyment of the game.

I will try to do better next time.

Oh yeah... i learned a new word tonight.

Prolix.

The pub--  always a safe place.

That would be unfortunate.

I wonder what prolonging a game might do. Is there a circumstance in which it might be a useful strategy?

Meh, and when push comes to shove, they can literally get themselves out, can't they, by passing the runner in front of them, if it comes down to that.

Took that for IBS for a few days, but had to stop when it made my eyelashes fall out.

That can't be it. I usually don't dislike those like I do this one.  .

(Where is the ducking for cover emoticon when I need it?)

You're fine. And don't worry about that faint glow on the horizon...

Sightings of Breslow, Belisle, and even Blaine Boyer. Will we see Boshers too!? Will I be able to keep my dinner down?

I bet no on this, so you will have to post the final answer.

Boyer AND Abad?

They're just rubbing our noses in it now

Abad-Boyer... what you gonna do when they come for you?

Are there really Red Sox fans still awake and fired up enough to actually shout "Wooow!", or is the stadium audio crew just randomly playing the Wooow! sample from the start of "Should I stay or should I go"/ "The Globe"?

Talking Hair going waaaaaay out on a limb in the studio check-in between innings with his admission that this 'might not be the cleanest game the Twins have played this season'.

"Asked for further comment on the incident after several pints of Guinness at his favorite pub, Mr.Smith merely smiled and continued to hum the catchy refrain hook from the '90s pop hit "Tubthumping" by Chumba Wumba.

Well, at least the fund managers, neurosurgeons, and capital murder defense attorneys who can afford seats behind home plate all had the good sense to go home instead of staying til quarter to one to watch the Twins self-destruct.

Jack Morris reminds us that tomorrow night the Twins bullpen will be depending on a deep, effective start from... Adalberto Mejia.

I'm going to go conk myself on the head with a croquet mallet.  G'night!

The Minnesota Twins completed a miraculous comeback in the the 9th inning tonight at Fenway, storming from a 7-run deficit to nip the Red Sox 12-11.

The 9th inning rally was keyed by Byron Buxton, who had 2 hits, including a grand slam home run to put the Twins firmly ahead.  The rally was also keyed by a perfectly placed bunt single by Jorge Polanco, and Eddie Rosario worked a crucial walk during a 12-pitch at bat.

The Sox rallied in their half of the 9th against Twins closer Brandon Kintzler, but he held the door, getting the 3rd out on a rocket to Sano with the bases loaded.

Same two teams tomorrow.

Oops, sorry, I was just trying to get a jump on typing my lead--  is the game over?  Did it happen?
