Construct a retractable roof for Target Field. That was so very short-sighted to fail to do this. It would pay for itself when folks know that they will definitely get to see a ball game after traveling from the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Idaho, or the far reaches of southern Minnesota. The Twins are a regional team. I'm a huge Twins fan and have traveled to Minneapolis from North Carolina for some games at the Metro Dome, but I'm not going to fly to Minneapolis, book a room and buy tickets where there is a chance the dad-gum game will be rained out, especially in April, October or early November. Plus we wouldn't have to play any more make-up double hitters where the Twins starting pitcher is "Johnny Twenty-six".

A roof would be an aesthetic disaster.

I know this thread is about wish lists, not reality. And in this case it's way not reality. I'm 99.9% sure that Target Field can not be roofed.

I'd improve my pitching:

SP Chris Sale $9m
SP Corey Kluber $4.5M
SP Max Scherzer $15M
SP Ervin Santana
SP Jose Berrios

Add in a couple relievers

RP Craig Kimbrel $11M
RP Andrew miller $9M
RP Kenley Janson $10M
RP Zach Britton $3.5M

Add in some batters

OF Bryce Harper $14M
OF Mike Trout $15M
1B Paul Goldschmidt $1M

Great list but you had some old salaries for some players.

SP Corey Kluber $7.5

SP Max Scherzer $15M (but has a $7M signing bonus every season, so essentially $22M)

RP Craig Kimbrel $13M

RP Zach Britton $11.4M

OF Mike Trout $19.25M

1B Paul Goldschmidt  $8.75M

couldn't hate this idea more. Baseball should be played outside.

Amen.

I went to games at the Metrodome because I didn't know any better.

But, if they every play under a roof again I won't be attending.

You could start by fielding a competitive team that packs the stands instead of leaving them half empty, and then negotiating a competitive TV deal when it comes due in 2023.

That's probably $75 million in revenue right there.

To get a 75 million dollar bump from gate there have to be  a world series victory and a fairly big price increase. The shiny newness of Target Field is long gone. Winning baseball was bringing less than 30000 fans to the games. Winning baseball did not bring sellouts to KC no Cleveland.  Winning baseball does not fill up Houston. There is no reason to think it would here. The cable market here is not a strong one.  The last report I saw there was about 1.7 million television households and a medium rate of cable usage. Any growth in Twins revenue  is going to have to divided out as costs to the cable and dish companies. That would be a challenge.

It's easy to say this in June in Minnesota when the weather is wonderful. But what about April and September and October (playoffs), to say nothing of the rain-delayed games played before 1,039 fans who remained to see the game. I just think it was short sighted of the politicians and the owners to have  failed to have built a retractable roof over the stadium at the time of construction. But I guess that is easy for me to say because I don't have to pay the extra taxes and fees and ticket prices and parking fees it would have cost to build a roof. Even if a roof had been free, many would object to it due to the aesthetics and due to the lack of a breeze.  I totally agree baseball is better outside for the fans who attend the games. So maybe the summer attendance is boosted by the beautiful Minnesota summer weather, to offset the chilly, damp April and September and October weather attendance.  I guess since I'm a southerner, I think too much about sitting outside in cold damp weather as being a bad thing. It reminds me of sitting in a foxhole all night in the sleet and freezing rain along the Korean DMZ when I was in the army. Sorry, I got off track there. I'll say this...if the Twins get in the playoffs, I'll be in Minneapolis for a game or two, no matter what the weather. Gooooooooooo Twins!

I have said it forever. This isn't some myopic belief about June in MN.

It's not really warmer in NY, CHI, DET, BOS....in those months. No one likes to sit outside in that weather, but doming every northern stadium isn't the answer....

When it comes to April and October you can add CLE, PHI, and PIT. And probably even BAL, WAS, CIN, and StL
