On a bad team, it really doesn't matter who the closer is.

 

That was last year. This cannot continue if we are expected to compete for the division throughout the summer.

On a purely intellectual level I understand your argument, if not actually quite agreeing with it.

 

On a more visceral one, speaking as someone who stayed up until midnight to see the Twins bullpen lose the game just seconds after you posted that, I briefly enjoyed imagining the satisfaction of kicking you in the junk.

So terrible. Kintzler gets gifted a strike on a 2-0 count off the plate and then instead of extending the zone even further or coming back inside or throwing a different pitch, he throws the same pitch at the same elevation only over the corner instead of off. Kintzler is not a closer. This bullpen needs to be managed non traditionally according to matchups. Kintzler has no business being entitled to the ninth.
