TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Agreed on that front, I would be much more comfortable trading Dozier now then later, but I also think that Dozier actually IMPROVES on his numbers from last year. If Dozier improves on his numbers we'll know Satan is real and Dozier cut a nasty deal with him. I could see Baez outperforming him, especially with defense baked into the comparison.

ThejacKmp Provisional Member Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Fowler is one of those rare guys who seems to bring things to the table that don't show up in the metrics. I'm sold on him. I understand completely why some people would not be. This means that, to me, you can't pull out the stat sheet and tell me he sucks. I'll never buy it.And I don't think i said he sucks. He's a good player, just not a guy you pay $82 mill through age 35 for. The things he does well are not likely to age well. That said, I get nervous every time someone says that a guy has intangibles that can't be measures. It's like when someone says guy is a eat defensive catcher - that just means he can't hit.

The Cardinals are one of the smartest teams in baseball when it comes to player personnel. If they think Fowler is worth $16.5M a year, he is. And I agree with them.
