Well the MiLB Spring Training schedule was just released, players report on the 7th with their first intrasquad game the 12th. On the 13th Bethel College comes to town to play the GCL Twins. MiLB roster groups will start to come out the 9th. Players break camp on April 3rd

Extremely windy conditions this weekend in Fort Myers with gusts of at least 20 mph with milder temps in the high 70's low 80's. The MLB club was away on Friday, so a few of the regulars such as Buxton and Kepler stayed home and took some live BP off Chad Allen. They were done by 11am.

On Saturday, more minor leaguers started showing up to camp with their official report date the 7th. They spent the day hitting on three of the backfields. On one field their was a grouping was more lower level guys in Trey Cabbage, Roberto Gonzalez, Andre Jernigan, Wander Javier, Dominic Blanco, Justin Hazard, Jose Miranda, Isaac Aluko, Akil Baddoo, Kerby Camacho. While on another field was Jorge Fernandez, Ben Rortvedt, Christian Caverness, Lewin Diaz, Ariel Montesino, Travis Blankenhorn.

Wander Javier sure looks like he has chicken legs still from the batting practice video. Hope he learns the fine art of calf raises and squats!

I like Trey Cabbage's swing. Nice, smooth, lefty swing.

Call me crazy but Wander Javier's frame and stroke reminds me of a young Alfonso Soriano in the cage. Cabbage has a beautiful lefty swing it just has a tendency to get long at times causing him to be late and more advanced pitchers to take advance. I'd like to see him adopt an approach with his hands started a little lower then where he has been, just to give him a quicker start

If you click on the picture it will enlarge, and yes Dougie is listed as AA coach, Jake Mauer for AAA, Tommy for High A and Borrejo for Low A since Quade and the majority of AAA guys are still with the big league club.

Heard today that Sunday will be the first round of cuts in camp.
