Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Thrylos is going to have about a 13-part series on his Top 60 Twins prospects. I thought putting links to them all in one place might be helpful. I know Thrylos doesn't typically include anyone who has played in MLB in his prospect rankings, which makes it a little different than other rankings (usually go by MLB rookie status remaining). It always seems to give us a lot to talk about. Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Thanks. More like a 14 part. I will do a concussion and assessment of the system at the end.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Thanks. More like a 14 part. I will do a concussion assessment of the system at the end.Fixed that for you. Sometimes, they make you wonder. I look forward to reading your takes!
goulik Verified Member Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Thanks. More like a 14 part. I will do a concussion and assessment of the system at the end.So who exactly is getting the concussion? I would not encourage you to give one to yourself but you may wind up in jail if you give someone else a concussion on purpose. I know it would be a "same old, same old" move to write a conclusion but it might just be the safer move. I would suggest you write a conclusion and skip the whole concussion idea.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 So who exactly is getting the concussion? auto-correct. Conclusion
TRex Provisional Member Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 ... I think I know the old scurvy dog who will now be getting the concussion !
goulik Verified Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I am really enjoying the in depth analysis of the lesser known prospects in the system. What opened my eyes to Granite this past year were the stolen bases. Stealing a base is about a lot more than speed. If Granite can continue to get on base and steal bases with a high rate of success, the rest of his comp to Revere becomes less important in my opinion. Was Revere also putting up stolen base numbers in MiLB?

goulik Verified Member Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 36-40 here.Harrison and Michael in the same post:36-40. Ouch, bad draft. 2 guys with high hopes on the verge of washing out in the same year. On Davis, I would be surprised to see him start in FM. I see him more as a mid-season promotion but based on who they have in FM, maybe they do move him aggressively... Otherwise, I agree 100% with the rest of your 36-40 assessments.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Harrison and Michael in the same post:36-40. Ouch, bad draft. 2 guys with high hopes on the verge of washing out in the same year. I know that I am higher on Michael than most. 2017 will definitely be a make or break season for Michael, but I have seen enough from him to rank him that high. Up to two seasons ago the same time, right after the 2014 season, Harrison and Kepler (same age mind you) were hand in hand in the rankings (and performance). After they moved to Chattanooga, they went their separate ways. Still a believer that Harrison will get it some day, but it better be sooner than later, as well.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 I had high hopes for Michael in 2016. And it didn't take long for the Twins to promote Ryan Walker to Chattanooga where he got a ton of the playing time at 2B. It was Walker that would play other positions when Michael would get a shot at second base. When Michael didn't play 2B, he didn't play other spots. To me, that was all pretty telling, unfortunately for Michael. I'm definitely still believe in Harrison. He's still young. It's in there. It would be great to see the numbers match the talent. And yes, it's obviously a big year for both since they can be free agents after the year.
clutterheart Verified Member Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I am looking forward to seeing Arias this year. Hopefully the power he showed as a teenage in the DSL is still there. He is speedy, with a decent glove so if his bat comes around he could be fun.
goulik Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I was really excited to go watch Palacios play in CR last year and was disappointed by his bat. I was starting to get excited about how his bat was picking up and then he got injured. I do not see him as ready for FM and think he needs to start in CR but hope he can thrive early (Cold and all) and get himself to FM by mid-season. I also enjoyed Theofanopolous at CR. I hope we found a diamond in the rough there. (I also enjoy seeing his name wrap around the whole back of his Jersey) I also have been rooting for Rainis Silva. In 1990, I spent my summer in Barquisimeto and a neighboring suburb Cabudare. I have a special place in my heart for the two Venezuelan cities and would love to see someone in a Twins Uniform from there. I did not see any baseball there though...Pretty crazy about their soccer in Barquisimeto!
ashbury Verified Member Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 26-30 hereI don't know if you have capacity to fix your content, but there is no player in the Twins organization named Trevor Hildernberger. The misspelling appears twice, BTW, so fix both while you are at it.
TRex Provisional Member Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Size is a concern with 5'8" Wells. He is just 19, but has not grown any more the past 3 seasons.Wow, I didn't know that Lachlan Wells was still 5'8", and hasn't grown any more in the past 3 seasons ()! I don't think he should be rated this high unless he is 6'1"...
clutterheart Verified Member Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 20 for Jorge seems a bit low. He is going to be 23, at AA on the 40 man, if he shows life and if the pitching for the Twins goes south he could be in the rotation in Aug. - But your notes regarding his size/durability are a something to be concerned about. Hope the Twins start Wade at AA instead of FM. Id like to see the org push him up quick
clutterheart Verified Member Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Thanks for the notes on Haley. He is an interesting prospect. Im looking forward to seeing if he can stick in the BP
clutterheart Verified Member Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 If it were up to me, I would have him start 2017 in Extended Spring Training to do this, instead of a league that is 3 years older than him, and move him to AA with a new delivery and confidence and a way to excel, avoid injuries, and reach his potential. Thats an interesting idea. I like it. - But I agree I doubt the FO would do it.
goulik Verified Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I have also been higher on Vielma than most but your write up makes it sound like even I am a little lower than I should be. I am all about having star defense at SS before star offense. Good defense can make average pitchers look better than they actually are. One reason I was rooting for a Dozier trade was Polanco to second, and Vielma getting a shot sooner than later. Especially with Gordon behind him.
