No relation to Juan, I assume?

Per Twins Latinos on Twitter, the Twins have signed OF Jonathan Rodriguez to a minor league contract. He was drafted by the Cardinals in 2009 (17th round) and worked his way up, ending 2016 with 39 games in AAA.

I tweeted about him and he retweeted it, which certainly would seem to be verification.

Rodriguez looks somewhat interesting. It looks like he can defend 3B, 1B, and LF/RF and his bat isn't an embarrassment. He has also pitched and earned a save. As a longshot he might be the late innings defensive stand-in the Twins are lacking.

Per Phil Miller, the Twins have signed RHPs Ryan Vogelsong and Nick Tepesch to minor league contracts.

I can see Voglesong hoping for a return to what he once was and a veteran presence in the bull pen but I am not seeing the Tepesch signing at all...

Both signings are snoozers. Can't imagine Vogelsong is more than just a spring training audition to land somewhere else.

Tepesch looks like a capable AAA arm. And that's about it.

I'd rather see the youth in the pen, these guys don't miss bats.

No harm in giving them minor league deals though if the front office doesn't over-value experience at the expense of ability.

Per Dustin Morse, Twins sign veteran catcher Chris Gimenez to a minor league deal.

Did Terry leave a store credit at the toilet store that Pohlad is making Derek and Thad spend before they can make any real moves?

Every time I see a Twins nugget pop up I get momentarily excited before realizing that their latest move is even more embarrassing than the previous one.

.229/.308/.429 in 2016 and .263/.358/.402 career against LHPs and played for both Cleveland and Texas the past 3 seasons.  Might be interesting to see whether he would push the 2 young Cs for the back up job.
