Game Thread: Twins @ Royals, 8/19 @ 7:15pm CT

Another emergency start up ... if you don't like my game threads, please sign up and do one. I'm sure whatever any of you come up with will be way, way better than me. Here's proof positive:

 

Let’s see … what shall we discuss in the game thread tonight … hmmm …

 

1. Metrics, stats and all those fun numbers and how to evaluate/predict players and teams … NOOOOOO!!!!! Let’s not go there tonight as game threads, even in our disagreements, should be amicable and fun.

 

2. Okay, so, how about Mauer, HOF or not? OMG …. NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Mike now hates me for mentioning this.

 

3. Well, then, there’s always the FO … ACK! ACK! ACK! ACK!!!!!!!! Too hot to handle!

 

4. I know … my favorite topic … eating crow. Yup. We’ve had some crow eaters in these here parts. Yes, indeed. What makes a crow eater? Whining in the 2nd inning of a game about how the pitcher is shaky and how not only is the offense not doing their job, they don’t seem to know how to do their job. Yup, that’s the way it went down on Wednesday night after two innings when the Twins were up 2-0. Kyle Gibson went on to complete the full game and the Twins won 10-3 with Plouffe going 3 for 5 and pulling in 3 rbi. Okay, yes I’m rubbing it in a bit thick and will now give credit where credit is due. Those who ended up eating crow were the first to say they should. Yup. Knowing and admitting when you've overstepped it is good stuff. And it makes for good game thread fodder.

 

5. I'll be missing the game tonight. Dinner and whatnot with friends. And I'm on vacation for three weeks! Woohoo! Other than a quick trip and back to Florida, and taking in a Miracle game while there, I'm staycationing. For those that know me, I travel enough during the year, so staying home once in a while is nice, too.

Lessee... KC has the worst offense in the American League. We have the best the past six weeks. And the Twins pitching is only a half-run worse per game. So that means squat. The Royals have our number so far this season. Would like to change that starting tonight.

A little Whatnot can really make a nice night.

What is "whatnot?" I was on a puddle jumper a couple years ago, really loud and cramped, and the flight attendant must have said we were going to have "a, b and whatnot " at least 20 times. When I'm on a rackety puddle jumper, I'd like to know with specificity what's going to happen. I don't want to be told that "whatnot" is going to happen. So, can someone tell me, what is whatnot?
